Mr. Zsasz

History

Victor Zsasz is the most unrepentant of sociopaths, a serial killer who marks the death of his victims on his skin. He believes that human beings are mindless 'robots' who seek only to find amusement. He is very intelligent and deceptively cunning, Mr. Zsasz isn't very picky when he's choosing his victims. But as a weapon he does prefer a carving knife for his kill, leaving his victims in natural "life-like" positions and marking their deaths as gashed tallies on his own body.

Mr. Zsasz lived a privileged existence, having made a fortune during his twenties. However, like so many before him, his success did not bring him happiness. Zsasz was left feeling hollow. After a period of being suicidal, Zsasz decided to, instead, bring death to everyone else. Thus, Zsasz became a serial killer; a career choice that has caused Zsasz to have numerous run-ins with Batman, and has landed him in Arkham Asylum and Blackgate almost as many times. 

During Knightfall, he held a school of girls hostage, when Batman suddenly burst through a window and clashed with the villain. During the fight, Zsasz damaged Batman pysically and mentally by slashing his back with his knife in a sneak attack, and relating himself to Batman got Batman psychologically damaged, so much that he attacked Zsasz in a savage fit of rage. The police took the crook into custody. When he escaped prison a while afterward he attacked Alfred Pennyworth, while Bruce Wayne was at a charity. Later ,Wayne found out and put his cape and cowl on and became the Batman and quickly apprehended the crook by announcing Alfred had lived intending to lure Zsasz to him. 

In the No Man's Land storyline Mr. Zsasz is the leader of a gang of thugs. He is injured and taken to to be treated by Leslie Thomkins. He is later almost killed by Killer Croc, and then captured by Batman and Huntress. After being captured he is sent to Blackgate Prison.

In the Joker's Last Laugh storyline Mr. Zsasz is turned into a Joker-like Zsasz and participates in a riot a Arkham Asylum where he attempts to kill Robin ( Tim Drake).

Mr. Zsasz joins Alexander Luthor's Secret Society of Super Villains.

In Gotham Underground, he was paid to kill Matches Malone aka Bruce Wayne but failed. He did manage to inflict bloodshed on him.      
 
In the Elseworlds story Batman: Crimson Mist Mr. Zsasz is an inmate at Arkham Asylum. He is killed by the vampire Batman along with the rest of Arkham's inmates. He is killed by having his stomach ripped open.
 
In Batman War Drums it is revealed that Zsasz sees the world in black and white except the people he plans to kill he sees in color. After murdering a man on a subway Mr. Zsasz flees into the subway tunnels  he'd been living in. Batman and Robin( Stephanie Brown) pursue him in the tunnels where he claims another victim. Robin goes to follow him and is grabbed. Batman follows Zsasz and they fight. They both land some hits on each other, the Zsasz gets Batman to the ground and begins to choke him. An injured Robin comes to Batman's rescue and trys to kill Zsasz  but is knock away by Zsasz. Batman now recovered, knocks out and defeats Zsasz by striking his neck.

Abilities

1. He is highly unpredictable, killing people at random and killings have no real connection, unlike most of the Dark Knight's enemies.
2. He is an expert killer. This is proven in Detective Comics 815, where he kills four policemen and an Arkham psychologist without using any weapons except for a pen and some poles.
3. He has a knife where in Detective Comics 815. He throws it accurately at a policeman in his upper body.
4. He has even been able to sneak up on Batman.
5. Although possessing all these skills has a downfall he has no superhuman abilities to back him up, nor any firearms or gadgets.
6. He has fought Batman unarmed and nearly killed him
