I was watching Dragonball Z Kai on 4kids today and saw the beloved DBZ character Mr. Popo.
He was changed! He was black, now he is a bright stupid looking blue color!...
I looked it up and came across some sites that states that they changed him because he seems to be a racist
stereotype of black people.
This isn't the first time this has happened. remember Jynx? the  124th pokemon? The episode this pokemon appeared in was banned in America, because she looks like a racist stereotype..
What are your guys opinion on this? I for one hate it.

Having learned and encountered many things and view points on various subjects, I've come to like Mr Popo being colored black. Today when I think of Mr Popo I think of the Original Asiatic Black man. Look into NOGE. He represents the first of mankind. He can levitate, use 'magic', extremely knowledgeable and can teleport. Also he's strong even in late in the dbz saga as he did some fighting with supersaiyans and wasn't hurt. Hes a human better than all the unoriginal masses. So to me while the Japanese may have certain view points regarding black people. It also seems the recognized us as the original people of the earth as well as extremely gifted, tho in small numbers. I think of myself as an exceptional black man and can face adversity. I'll take the positives as a complement and take the negatives as ignorance n laugh.

How wasn't that character racist? Who are the people actually upset at ending a racist caricature?

@davefe1012: Honestly I never saw it as racist until someone pointed it out to me and then it hit me like a brick. At first I thought he was a creepy weirdo alien thing but then when someone pointed it out I was like "Ohhhhhhh... yeah I see it now.".

I mean it's a clear racist caricature that you probably wouldn't notice because it's so subliminal, kinda like how when someone points how the Smurfs are kinda like Klansmen and the dude with the big nose is a Jew. It's something a kid won't notice or care about but once you see it it's kinda hard not to see.
