Nick Fury First meeting: Unknown Colonet Nick Fury started his military career commanding a group of highly trained, highly motivated soldiers called the "Howling Commandos" in World War 2. The Howling Commandos were an elite unit and were very successful during the war carrying out many secret missions for the US Government. On top of being a great leader, Nick was also an Ace pilot. He has flown many missions during World War 1, and was already considered a war hero. At the end of World War 2 in Europe, Nick was severly injured by a landmine while carrying out missions in France. He was later healed by Berthold Sternberg who was a scientist. Sternberg created the Infinity Forumla and used Nick as a test subject. After recovering, Nick began working for the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), which was a precursor of the Central Intelligence Agency, (CIA). While he was in the CIA, he learned the true effects of the Infinity Formula. The formula slowed his aging. He needed regular doses of this formula to survive. So Sternberg extorted money from Nick for the annual doses. He eventually gained control of the formula from Sternberg and put a stop the the extortion. While in the CIA Nick was highly successful as a field agent gathering info in Korea, Russia, and many other countries the US deemed necessary. He was considered to be the best field agent the US had to offer. Because of his success, Nick was recruited by Tony Stark to be the leader of SHIELD. SHIELD was originally formed to stop the terrorist organization known as the Hydra. Since the formation of SHIELD, Nick has battled many enemies both cosmic and domestic. Nick Fury has enlisted many heroes to aid him in defeating all threats to not only the US, but the World itself. Heroes such as Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Punisher, Wolverine, Fantastic Four, and even the Hulk on occasion. Nick has many enemies being the leader of SHIELD, they are the police and watch dogs for the US Government. Currently during the Civil War, Nick has dissapeared while Tony Starks has taken over the leadership role for SHIELD. No one knows of his whereabouts. |
