    Origin

Mother's Milk was born to a poor family in Harlem and is the only one of The Boys to be born with Compound V in his blood. His mother was employed as a worker at a factory owned by Vought-American which had previously been used as a laboratory experimenting on Compound V. Most of the women who worked there subsequently died or suffered from severe medical conditions. Mother's Milk's brother was born mentally disabled and later died due to complications related to Compound V. Mother's Milk's father spent years trying to fight Vought American in the courts and, despite winning one case, he ultimately died while working on a follow-up case. Mother's Milk decided to join the Army and became a member of the Army boxing team. During the Army heavyweight championship, his Compound V derived powers suddenly activated and he accidentally punched off his opponent's head. While being held as a prisoner by the military, he was approached by Butcher and Mallory with an offer to join the Boys. He accepted their offer. Mother's Milk serves as Butcher's second-in-command in the Boys and his calm logic is often an anchor within the team. Butcher has referenced him as the glue holding the team together.

It has been revealed that Mother's Milk's name is related to the fact that due to the Compound V in his body, he had to continue nursing from his mother to advanced age and possibly continues nursing to this day. When he was a child his mother tried to wean him multiple times but he got progressively sicker and weaker each time until his heart stopped the last time she tried.

    Creation

Mother's Milk is a Dynamite Entertainment comic book character and was created by writer Garth Ennis and artist Darick Robertson. He first appears in the series The Boys #2 released in 2006. During his creation and conception process, Mother's Milk was originally conceived with a clean-shaven, and smooth shaved head look, but later given a rougher, tougher appearance. More about Mothers Milk creation was explained in The Boys Definitive Edition Volume 1 by artist Darick Robertson "MM was my first real contribution to THE BOYS when Garth first mentioned him to me back in 2002. I can't say too much or I'll blow the surprises but Garth applied an idea to this character that I had suggested and will eventually reveal. We originally saw him as bald and smooth but when I drew up the final design piece, Garth asked for a beard and tight afro at the last minute."

    Powers and Abilities

Mothers Milk possesses superhuman strength and durability brought about from Compound V. Mothers Milk has military experience and training and has served as an Army Ranger. Unlike the members of the Boys, Mothers Milk was born with Compound V already in his biological system.

    Laz Alonso as Mother's Milk

Mother's Milk appears in the 2019 Amazon show, The Boys, portrayed by Laz Alonso.

Changes were made to Mother's Milk's character. For example, his “real” name in the series is Marvin T. Milk (He claims his mother named him "Mother's Milk"), he doesn’t have compound V in his body, and his family doesn’t seem to have superpowers.

Mother's Milk is approached by Butcher to help him continue his vendetta against Vought and Homelander and he begrudgingly agrees, provided he doesn't have to work with the Frenchman (Frenchie) again. Butcher promises him he won't but is lying which enrages Mother's Milk when he sees Frenchie is already a part of the team. Although they have a strained working relationship, he agrees to remain on the team.

M.M. also acts as a friend to Hughie throughout the series to help him adapt to the violent lifestyle that is hunting supes.
