Mother Inferior is a member of the Morlocks, outcasts who were a community of mutants who lived in tunnels beneath New York City. She was an outcast due to the fact she was morbidly obese and a scavenger.
While most had been killed in the mutant massacre some escaped, a few with the help of the X-Men and the original X-Factor team. Mother Inferior and her son Ent and his family came across Anna in the old Poseidon, while escaping the massacre.
Until one day when Spider Man came to investigate the several Mysterious happenings in the hotel, he thought the morlocks were threatening Anna’s baby but after he decided to 'rescue' the baby he found out that the baby belonged to the Morlocks.
The villain Firebrand attacked the fundraiser above which caused the building to collapse despite their best efforts to save Mother Inferior, Ent and Spider Man realized she was to heavy to move. She sacrificed herself and told a horde of rats to push her family to safety as she tearfully says goodbye before the debris crushes her to death.

Mother Inferior was a mutant that had the ability to communicate with rats and other vermin.
