Wicked! 0

I'm not at all familiar with Nick Spencer or his previous work. Existence 2.0, Forgetless, Shuddertown. I'm probably not familiar with him, because it has been a very long time since I read anything from Image. I sampled some of it when they made their first splash, but that's been more than ten years or more. I'll be honest with you, if I'm gambling my $3.99 on a single book, it's gotta be bulletproof. I've stuck with Brian Michael Bendis' Ultimate Spider-Man into it's second volume, because it...

The New Era 0

Wow, High School,Girls,Drama,Supernatural.Just like the doctor ordered xD.This is probably the first IMAGE COMIC title I've read in years.I got hooked into this after reading the plot summary and I have to say it's even better than I expected. We got a plenty of nice and interesting characters.Jade,Zoe,Hunder,Jun,Ike and Casey are the new recruits of the Morning Glory Academy and their goal is to 'change the world' but it's easier said than done. Can't say much without spoiling everything, but the...

New kids at school 0

100 Words Or LessCasey, Hunter, Zoey Jade, Jun, and Ike are all new enrollments at Morning Glory Academy. Morning Glory is one of the most prestigious and well respected preparatory academies in the country. But something dark and mysterious lurks in the halls of the former monastery-turned-academy. The students are there to learn but are the teachers there to teach? Why have the new group of six been chosen and what is in store for them once they find out Morning Glory isn't what it seems?  So ...

Welcome to Morning Glory Academy 0

Enter the Academy of Morning Glory where nothing is what it seems in this high school.  Pros: At first glance, this looks like a typical teenage romance, drama, high school comic, but its way more than that. What seems to be a simple break out quickly turns into something out of the supernatural. I'm not familiar with Nick Spenser's writing, but  he gives Morning Glory academy a different kind of atmosphere than most of the comics I have ever read. That being said, besides the supernatural, sc...

I loves me a creepy school full of weird, degenerate geniuses 0

I've heard nothing but good things about this series and after I read this issue, the reviews don't do Nick Spencer's series justice. I got so into this story and read it like my life depended on it and I didn't even realize it was one of those double issue things. I'm glad i picked up a few other issues because I went from 1 to the next. Nick Spencer wrote this to get you hooked and he succeeds. There is so much going on in the school and with the new students (as well as the old) and I can't w...

Nothing but good things! 0

I've been hearing such great things about this series all over the web recently and finally decided to pick up a copy of the first few issues. I wasn't really sure what to expect when I first opened the pages of the comic, but almost immediately I was hooked. Nick Spencer introduces us to a school of unwilling students who plot an escape using an explosion as a distraction, but provides us with no information as to what has occurred to these students. We immediately get to the point of the serie...

Amazing first issue! 0

I thought this was a great first issue. We get to meet all the freshmen and get a glimpse of what secrets and horrors the academy is hiding. This issue gave me the creeps sometimes (especially the cliffhanger in the end) but it also made me laugh out loud, like when the girls meet perky Pamela. Even though the book is a little confusing in the beginning because you don’t know what’s happening, you cannot put it down because you want to know more about the characters and find out how they are go...

Clichés Galore, But Well Executed 0

The concept behind Morning Glories has been done in books, movies, TV shows and comics over and over and over. The idea that a few young people - usually teens - get sent to / accepted by / taken to some lab/school where they are studied / trained / manipulated and generally exploited by bad people. It was common in 70s Horror movies like The Fury, and 80s comics like Mai, the Psychic Girl, and of course the X-Men / New Mutants series of titles. And honestly there is nothing that jumps out about ...

Imagine getting the opportunity of a lifetime as a young teenager. A prestigious academy wants you to go to their school.
