On his home planet, Morg served in an army of rebels fighting against their Queen. He always sought to serve the most powerful. His rebellion was defeated by the sheer numbers of the queen's army. He was taken prisoner and he and the other survivors were brought before the queen, who gave them one last chance to serve her. Since Morg was drawn to the powerful, he turned on his allies and joined the side of the queen. He was then given a position as executioner, and his first duty was to execute his former comrades, which he did with no remorse.
His planet was then approached by Galactus, Devourer of Worlds. In the presence of the awesome being, Morg showed no fear; instead exhibiting a respectful but uncowed defiance. Impressed with Morg's demeanor and wary after losing several heralds to attacks of conscience, Galactus decided to recruit this brutal and remorseless specimen as his latest herald.
Morg gladly accepted the task of being Galactus' herald, and was given the Power Cosmic, making him powerful enough to rival the Silver Surfer, a status Galactus has not allowed his other heralds. As a weapon, Morg wields a double-edged battle axe which he previously used in his executioner duties. Morg served as a herald of Galactus after Galactus' previous herald, Nova, was expelled for sparing suitable but inhabited planets from his hunger.
Silver Surfer learned about Morg after discovering that Nova had left Galactus. He expressed his concerns to Galactus about Morg's low morals but were dismissed. Morg battled and easily defeated the Surfer, leaving him unconscious. The Surfer knew he needed assistance and sought out Firelord. Although they had never been the best of friends, Firelord agreed to help stop this unworthy herald.
Seeking reinforcements, Silver Surfer and Firelord recruited the rest of Galactus' former heralds: Nova, Terrax and Air-Walker, whom they had to unearth from his grave and reassemble. During this time, Morg discovered a powerful pool akin to the Fountain of Youth on a planet to which he had lead Galactus. The pool enhanced Morg's powers exponentially before he returned to his master and the planet was destroyed.
The assembled heralds confronted Morg together and were easily defeated. In the battle, Air-Walker was severely damaged again and Morg killed Nova by blasting her in the back when he was thought to have been beaten. Galactus was not pleased with this, so he removed the power cosmic that he had imbued in Morg, leaving him with only the power he'd gained from the pool he'd discovered. In his weakened state, he was still able to defend himself briefly. Although the Silver Surfer tried to stop Terrax, Morg was killed by Terrax in the end. To repay Galactus the inconvenience of losing his herald, both Firelord and Air Walker volunteered to stay with him.
Months later, Galactus resurrected Morg to give him a second chance. Morg then went off in search of Terrax to exact vengeance upon him and retrieve his axe. He defeated Terrax and was about to finish him but in their battle they were ambushed by robots working for the villain Tyrant and were taken captive.
Morg, along with fellow captives Silver Surfer, Terrax, Gladiator, Beta Ray Bill, and Ganymede were being used to power Tyrant's Fortress and robot drones. When Jack of Hearts arrived as captor, he refused to surrender and released all of his energy at once, destroying the matrix holding them and freeing them in the process. Morg attacked Terrax once again as opposed to teaming up and fighting for their lives against Tyrant. The others fought back against Tyrant and were easily defeated. The appearance of Galactus disrupted the battle. Morg had been incapacitated in the battle, like all those involved, save for the Surfer. Tyrant stated that everyone there could go free, except for Morg, for no other reason than to spite the world devourer. Instead of having a gigantic battle with Tyrant, Galactus agrees to leave his herald.
Tyrant imprisoned Morg and continued to siphon off his Power Cosmic and store it into his orbs. While his prisoner, Tyrant tried many ways to make Morg become his servant, but his will was strong and he chose to only serve Galactus. During the Cosmic Powers event, Thanos and his allies enter the Fortress to challenge Tyrant. He implants Morg with a control device and he takes on the intruders unwillingly. During the battle he is defeated by his arch enemy Terrax, but this also causes his control device to be destroyed. He vows to have his vengeance on Terrax another day, but he is anxious to return to his master.
After Morg escapes and returns back to his master and easily defeats his current heralds, Firelord and Air Walker. He served as herald again for a brief time.
When Morg learned of the upcoming confrontation between Galactus and Tyrant, he began to prepare to help his master. In a battle between Galactus and Tyrant, Morg found the Ultimate Nullifier and used it to melt most of Tyrant's body. By Tyrant's herlad the Toady-Drone tried to biomechanically morph with Morg and control him and the Nullifier. The drone was unable to control Morg but was able to temporarily control the power of the Nullifier. Morg was able to get his revenge on Tyrant, using the Nullifier to vaporize and destroy his legs.
When the Silver Surfer arrived, Galactus told him to stop Morg. Morg saw this as betrayal by his master and was consumed by the power of the Nullifier, beliving himself to be more powerful than Tyrant or Galactus. Eventually the drone could no longer control the Nullifier, and Morg tried to escape by cutting off his own arm (Tyrant's drone attached itself to the Nullifier and Morg's arm thus not allowing Morg to separate himself from the Nullifier). His escape failed and the Nullifier exploded, destroying Galactus' ship and all aboard. Morg and Tyrant have not appeared since and are presumed dead. Galactus was believed dead for a while but has resurfaced since, first reappearing to feed off of the energies of Hyperstorm.
Morg, however, is confirmed dead as Annihilus fails to retrieve the Power Cosmic from his corpse and actually died by Galactus´ raging.
Powers and abilities
Morg was imbued with the Power Cosmic by Galactus, as he did with all his heralds. Galactus gave him power to rival that of the Silver Surfer's. This allowed Morg to fly through space and granted him exponentially enhanced strength, stamina and durability, stamina and reflexes. It also allowed him to fire blasts of powerful energy channeled through his axe.
The mystical pool Morg submerged himself in boosted each of these abilities further, making him more powerful than any other single herald, even more so than the Silver Surfer although this may no longer be true after the events of annihilation where Galactus boosted the Silver Surfer's powers. Morg can boost his own strength and he can survived in the vacuum of space effortlessly.
