    Moon Knight

Character » Moon Knight appears in 1414 issues.

Moon Knight, Marc Spector, Steven Grant, and Jake Lockley: four different aspects of the same man who was resurrected by Khonshu (the Egyptian Lunar-God of Vengeance and Justice) to serve as his "avatar." Those unjust mortals who prey upon the innocents traveling at night, with powers that come from the moon, beware the Vengeance of the Moon Knight!

I've been trying to place a good portion of Moon Knight's appearances into some semblance of continuity, but am having some trouble with a lot of his appearances from 2010-2013, since he was kind of in a lot of different books. I am putting the entirety of Secret Avengers in this list, since technically he was a member until issue 16. I am keeping the Rick Remender series in there too, just because I like the line-up for that team too. Just wondering what order I should be reading the collected editions in to make the story flow best. And if anyone finds anything in there that is just so unnecessary that it's not worth reading, please let me know. Here's the list I've compiled so far, feel free to tell me any changes I need to make.

Actually...did some research and already did a little bit of moving around...here's the updated list...

Also was wondering if Onslaught Unleashed was even important....or is the Secret Avengers being in it just a small cameo?

I have an Excel file with all of MK's appearances if you want it. Here's the section answering where the WCA Annuals fit in:

Hey, thanks man. I actually spent a few hours researching last night and found that they are making an Omnibus that contains all of Moon Knights appearances in WCA. I'm assuming Marvel will put them in their "proper" order, so I think I'm good on that one. I may actually end up needing that list, but I have made some changes since I last posted the list. I also took out the Rick Remender Secret Avengers, and a few Moon Knight appearances that seemed to have no bearing on his continuity whatsoever. I think it makes the list a little more "tight-knit". The only problems I really seem to be having with the list now is the placement of certain arcs of Secret Avengers, Heroes for Hire, and the BMB run of Moon Knight. They were all coming out at the same time, so I tried to use Fear Itself as a timeline point in placing the TBP's of the series at that time. Here's the new list.

    Essential Moon Knight Volume I

    Essential Moon Knight Volume II

    Essential Moon Knight Volume III

West Coast Avengers Omnibus Volume II

    Moon Knight: Divided We Fall

    Marc Spector: Moon Knight #1-33

    Amazing Spider-Man: Round Robin #353-358

    Marc Spector: Moon Knight #34-44

Marc Spector: Moon Knight Special #1

    Marc Spector Moon Knight #45-60

    Moon Knight: Resurrection

    Moon Knight: High Strangeness

    Black Panther Vol 3 #21-23 (Sept 2000)

    Marvel Knights #4-14

Marvel Team-Up: The Golden Child #1-5

Marvel Team-Up: Master of the Ring #6-10

    Moon Knight: The Bottom

    Moon Knight: Midnight Sun

    Moon Knight: God and Country

Moon Knight: The Death of Marc Spector

    Moon Knight: Down South

Vengeance of the Moon Knight: Shock and Awe

Vengeance of the Moon Knight: Killed, Not Dead

    Shadowland: Moon Knight

    Secret Avengers: Mission to Mars

    Heroes for Hire: Control

Secret Avengers: Eyes of the Dragon

    Onslaught Unleashed

    Fear Itself: Heroes for Hire

    Fear Itself: Secret Avengers

Secret Avengers: Run the Mission, Don’t Get Seen, Save the World

    Moon Knight Volume 1

Daken – Dark Wolverine: The Pride Comes Before the Fall

    Moon Knight Volume 2

There's very little connectivity between modern comics anyway, so I don't think it will matter that much. For instance, he never mentions Shadowland while in the Secret Avengers or anything, and was in California for the tail end of both that and Heroes for Hire and made no mention of it. To make matters even worse, he mentions in Age of Ultron #2 that he and Black Widow had JUST finished working on an op together even though he left Secret Avengers 14 months before.

Don't you just love it when Bendis writes Moon Knight?

I thought it was terrible. Don't get me wrong, the writing itself was top-notch, it's just that the concept was flawed. Marc has never had Multiple Personality Disorder. It states in Moon Knight #1 that he created his identities to gather intel and such. And the fact that he left his friends and recently-miscarried girlfriend behind without explanation annoyed me to no end. When I think of that series, I try to mentally retcon it by thinking that Khonshu made Marc see the Avengers :P

From what I understand about the whole Age of Ultron thing, is that the story arc was supposed to happen a year or two ago, but it got delayed, and that's why some of the timing was off. I'm so behind on Moon Knight stuff right now because I stopped reading for a few years because of all the books he was in at once was really messing me up. So know that the story arcs are done, I'm just trying to get some perspective on if I'll still be all screwed up if I read them in the order I listed above. As for Moon Knight not having MPD, I've always felt that the way he's been written, even in the issues collected in the Marvel Essentials books, that he actually does to a degree. I don't know which issue atm, but I do remember him even saying to Marlene once that even he sometimes doesn't know who he is anymore. It seemed to say that he switches between his identities so much that he actually GAVE himself MPD. Of course, that's just my take on it, everyone has their own opinion. But I still hated the concept of Superhero identities. Still going to read it when I get to it, cause I like Moon Knight, but not expecting much out of it. But what do you guys think? Does my list seem stable enough to run with?

Terrible? That's a bit harsh. Also, one can develop MPD from repeated traumatic events and/or hoping between multiple aliases in day to day life. I would say dying/going mad after killing bushman and the combination of his aliases could have caused him to develop MPD.. it's not completely farfetched.

I read that more like someone who is deep undercover losing themselves to the role, like Donnie Brasco, which is a much different thing to MPD.

@danial79: Though I absolutely respect your opinion, but as a longtime MK fan myself, I think I side more with scrubbedout. I personally enjoyed it, but was more happy with the concept of him having his own series. Maleev's art was fantastic, but Bendis clearly isn't for everyone. It was a fresh perspective, but it didnt pan out too awesomely. Thanks for responding.

I guess we all just have our own opinions. That's fine though, that's what makes comics fun. We all enjoy different things and different writers. Does my list seem sound to you guys though?
