Career

Mitch Waxman first became involved in comics while attending the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, where he studied under comic legends such as Will Eisner and Joe Orlando. His first major work was initially published in Utterly Strange Comics, though it soon moved to Caliber Comics, where it was published as two miniseries, entitled Plasma Baby and Plasma Babies: Vengeance of the Aztecs. He worked as a freelance artist during this time, and also co-wrote and drew Cortez and the Fall of the Aztecs. In 1990 he pencilled the New Kids on the Block issue of Rock 'n' Roll Comics. His next major work was in 1995, when he wrote and illustrated Deadworld: Necropolis. During this time he also worked with Sirius Entertainment, mainly in production and advertisement of their new indie titles, including Scary Godmother and Poison Elves. In 1999 launched a website with writer Ancram Hudson, Weirdass Comics, to display their work. The following year the pair began work on The Starry Ones, a 3D online comic that ran until 2003. He mostly retired from comics in 2008, mainly due to health reasons, and has instead focused on his blogs, historical research and photography. He is also active in the advertisement industry.

Personal Life

Mitch Waxman was born and raised in New York City, and he currently lives there with his wife. He is a devotee of local history, especially in the area around Newtown Creek.
