    A lot worse than that

I am not sure of the last time that I saw such a misfire on a potentially good issue.  With Michael still trapped in space he attempts to free his fellow prisoners but then comes against some unforeseen circumstances.  First this issue aims to look a little bit of the legacy that slavery had on the consciousness of black people in North America.  Then it tries to look at something akin to transgendered issues.  Then it tries to use the one to explain the other.  It was a decent enough idea it seems, but the execution and the setting of all of this in space did not do it justice at all.  The action at the end seems pretty much tacked on.  It is strange as well because this is one of DC's "science titles" but other titles have done a good job at mixing in some deeper meanings with all the science talk.  That was tried here but wasn't successful.
