    Miss Fury

Character » Miss Fury appears in 109 issues.

Miss Fury is one of the earliest female heroes in the pulp era, featured prominently from 1941 to 1952. Created, written and drawn by June Tarpe Mills, one of the few women in the business at the time. Miss Fury was the inspiration for Marvel's Hellcat.

Given the revival of the male pulp heroes The Shadow, The Spider, and the Green Hornet/Kato by Dynamite Entertainment, is anybody interested in seeing some of the female pulp heroes getting their own series?

Miss Fury is a part of Masks and depending upon its popularity, could she get her own series?

Domino Lady has a very distinct look for a pulp hero and I would love to see her get an ongoing. (The Moonstone series didn't count, but the short story anthology they put together was good.)

On a related note, why was Miss Fury the only Masks character to get their own scantily clad variant cover?

The answer to your second question is pretty easy, its a call to Catwoman. And we can't have Catwoman without a variant cover... ;p

I would love to see this? I will look into this more, seems really cool.

I am definitely looking forward to one of these female pulp heroes getting their own series. I hope Masks gets enough attention for Dynamite to take the gamble.

@Jonny_Anonymous: I'm not sure it is selling well. Two different retailer gave me free copies of the first issue of Masks. I think Dynamite pulled a Marvel move and double-shipped issue to help push it.

@jsphsmth: Not sure if you read it but I thought I should mention the Masquerade series.
@Jonny_Anonymous: Yes, Masks #1 was #25 on Diamonds Top 100 comics for November.

Masks #1 was really good and I'm happy with The Spider series as well but I'm more interested in when Project Superpowers Vol. 3 starts. At least Black Terror and Green Lama will appear in Masks for now.

@Jonny_Anonymous: Yeah that's really high even for a #1 issue although they had a ton of variants so maybe that inflates things a little? Alex Ross was only doing the art for the first issue too so there might be a drop with #2 but hopefully people stick around anyway.

I am a little curious about the lack of coverage from the comic sites regarding the Miss Fury ongoing.

Similarly, fans seem to be very vocal that they want more female leads in comics, but I don't really see the followup via fans actual purchasing these series. For example, Captain Marvel is on the verge of cancellation (looks like it will breach the 20k line of death at Marvel soon) even though it is supposed to be a great read featuring a strong female lead.

I will pick up this series. I picked up Masks because I was curious and I found some old Miss Fury comics. I will definitely check the new series out. By the way I read Captain Marvel and it is a great book.
