Origin

 The Night Shift

Not too much is known about Misfit before he became a member of the Night Shift. He apparently went to the Power Broker and underwent a procedure that granted him superhuman strength. The treatment was successful but it grotesquely distorted his physical body. He would be recruited into the Night Shift by the Shroud and serve as their powerhouse member.

Creation

Misfit was created by Mark Gruenwald and Al Milgrom in 1989 and first appeared in West Coast Avengers # 40.

Mayor Story Arcs

 Misfit causing trouble for Vision.
He also battled members of the West Coast Avengers on a few occasions. The Night Shift would attack the West Coast Avenger's headquarters when they learned that one of their members named Digger was taken down by Mockingbird and placed into police custody. The Shroud was in San Francisco at the time so their deputy leader, Dansen Macabre decided to take on the Avengers and teach those goody-goody heroes a lesson. Gypsy Moth would disable their monitor's fiber optic system while the Misfit rips the gate open so the Shifties can enter the West Coast compound. A fight ensues when Hawkeye, Vision and Scarlet Witch arrive but they are overwhelmed by the Night Shift. The tide of battle turns when Wonder Man arrives. Misfit tackles Wonder Man and insults him about his last movie. The Misfit's strength doesn't compare to Wonder Man and is quickly taken out. The Night Shift are apprehended by the Avengers but they manage to escape when the Shroud bails them out with his darkforce powers.

A new Hangman would take over as leader of the Night Shift and all the current members were supernaturally augmented by the powerful demon, Satannish in exchange for their souls. Satannish was conjured up during a national televised fight between the West Coast Avengers and the Night Shift. Misfit and the rest of his teammates were getting stronger after Satannish appeared. The Scarlet Witch and Dr. Strange told the Night Shift members that the Hangman offered their souls to the demon so he can become a movie star. The Night Shift members agreed to give up their demon-given energies to power up the West Coast Avengers. Misfit and the rest of the Night Shift decided to help the Avengers and they attacked Satannish together. Satannish was forced to leave the earthly plane and all members of the Night Shift lost their augmented abilities.

 Ouch!!
The Blazing Skull confronts a Night Shift member named Digger and wanted him to answer some questions. A fight ensues and the Blazing Skull knocks out Digger. Captain America intervenes and wants to talk to the Blazing Skull because he thinks he is connected to the Red Skull. Needle, Misfit and the Brothers Grimm interrupt their fight and take on both men for messing with Digger. The Misfit takes on Captain America but he is no match for the super soldier's superior fighting skills. The Misfit's non-augmented areas are vulnerable to Captain America's shield strikes and he finally goes down with a shield slam to the back of his head. Misfit and the rest of the Shifties are taken down by Captain America and the Blazing Skull.

Misfit would reunite with the Night Shift when they are hired by Snapdragon to eliminate Moon Knight and Echo in Los Angeles. Misfit and the Night Shift fail to kill Moon Knight which would lead to their ultimate demise. Misfit and the Night Shift would be confronted by the new West Coast Kingpin, Count Nefaria where he incinerates them for being so incompetent and moronically stupid.

Powers & Abilities

The Misfit has superhuman strength but the process that granted him his powers has severely distorted his body. Misfit also has superhuman durability and resistance to injury.
