Maximum Carnage all over again...
WARNING! MAJOR STORY SPOILERS. ALSO FOR MAXIMUM CARNAGE!
I was very excited for this "Minimum Carnage" story arc. Mainly because of one reason...
About half year ago, while reading some of the old spidey books, I also read "Maximum Carnage" story arc. I thought, that it will be one of the best story arcs I've read. But there was one factor, that just screwed it all up. Big time. This factor was spidey's so called "High morals". He didn't want to kill carnage, because that's unethical and crap and wanted to find another way. So basically "Maximum Carnage" was about Spidey whining all around city, saving Carnage, when Venom or other dudes tried to kill him, and preaching, that there has to be another way. While spidey was doing that, Carnage killed hundreds of peoples. Hundreds. Just because Spidey and his "high morals" couldn't allow him to kill Carnage, but easily allowed him to indirectly, by leaving Carnage alive, to kill hundreds of innocent peoples. While many claimed this to be awesome story arc, for me it was all time worst story arc I've ever read and I was disgusted just by reading it.
And so, let's get to the real deal. When I heard about "Minimum Carnage", I thought, that Venom and Scarlet ain't the dudes, who'll give a damn about morals and will kill Carnage, therefore saving countless lives and once and for all stopping this maniac. It indeed were going very nicely and I thought, that in the final showdown they'll kill Carnage, and it will be epic as duck, but it turned out differently. In the end Venom's morals (he has such?) also kicked in and for unknown reasons he left Carnage alive. Scarlet Spider wanted to kill Cassady, but Venom stopped him. Why the hell would he do such a thing? It is clear, that Carnage will return and again will claim people's lives... But no, Venom had to leave him alive for unknown reasons... Just like ol' good, "Maximum Carnage"... I figured they did it, because they couldn't afford to lose such a strong and well known villain like Carnage. So instead of killing him (which they could later ressurect some way. Noone would mind), they screwed up a good story arc (for me at least) and shattered it to dust (not sure if I wrote this metaphora correctly)... And one more thing. Venom's civilian identity, Flash Thompson, was a retired US marine. While being at war he often had to kill enemies. I doubt, he would actually leave someone like Carnage alive...
So, yeah... "Minimum Carnage" ending was dissapointment for me. Other issues were great though.
And sorry for my bad english/grammar, if I made any mistakes. Thank you.
