This issue starts a pretty cool story arc with a familiar foe. Minimum Carnage delivers an interesting tale involving the newer of the emerging spider characters - Venom and Scarlet Spider. A cloudy set of circumstances allows Carnage to escape from his confinement, leaving a pile of bodies in his wake.
I think that the way that Venom is being written is still a little too much like Peter Parker and is still far too nervous sounding. To the contrary Scarlet Spider was written as expected, and I think quite well, with his usual "I'm not a hero" banter. I'm excited to see Carnage again in all of his crazy glory, we get a taste of him in this issue. What I am anticipating the most is the back and forth banter between the new 'Flash Thompson' Venom and Carnage (Father-son dialogue/puns/one-liners) and in the next issue Venom vs. Scarlet Spider which we have a bit of a lead up to.
The art in this issue by Medina was hit and miss for me. Some panels are a bit blazé but some of the symbiote art is pretty great. Some of the later panels of Carnage are quite demonic and true to his character - as a psychotic killer. The blazé parts were just on Venom and the random flock of qaurds and personnel throughout the issue. But overall the issue was good and I can't wait to read the next one, I think it comes out relatively soon.
