Mercedes "Mercy" Thompson was the daughter of a white woman and a Blackfoot Indian. The two had a brief affair and young Mercy was the result. What Mercy's mother didn't realize was that the father of her child wasn't human, but instead was a coyote-shifter called a walker. But the fact was revealed when infant Mercy turned into a coyote pup. Unable to handle the fact of raising a child with bizarre powers, Mercy's mother looked into finding someone who could help her and stumbled upon a werewolf pack called the Marrok. She placed her daughter in the care of the Marrok leader, Bran, as coyotes and wolves are similar wild canines. Bran found her a foster-family within the pack and the young walker grew up with the werewolves.

When Mercy was a teenager she left the pack when she learned her werewolf boyfriend Samuel only wanted her because he was sure she would be able to bear him children. Bran made sure she had werewolves near her for when she moved to the Tri-Cities area of Washington, she found herself having Adam Hauptman (leader of the local werewolf pack) as her neighbor. She found employment as a mechanic working for a fae gremlin named Zee.

During her time in the tri-cities, she found herself involved in disputes with rogue werewolves, vampires, demons, kelpies, and even fairy queens. But the biggest challenge was being mated to Adam when she found that the werewolf Alpha was in love with her.

    Powers
