This is an extremely stupid question, but I have to ask to settle an argument. Would Mercury be absolutely worthless against Magneto?

She's made from an organic mercury-like metal.....but can Magneto control Colossus?

Me and a friend (who I guess can't read) were talking about past and present x men heroes and villains and who could do what to who. Mercury vs. Magneto came up. I said she'd be useless. He disagreed. A bet was made.

I didn't know mercury could be manipulated by magnetism.

Magneto is able to manipulate not only non-magnetic metals but even non-metallic things by manipulating the natural magnetic field that surrounds everything on earth. if he used his powers right the guy would be pretty unbeatable.

Well, considering that he spends the vast majority of his time manipulating ferrous materials, I assume that they are much easier for him. So, since mercury is not ferrous (at least I don't think it is...), at least she wouldn't be quite as easily manipulated as someone like Colossus.

Well in ultimate, colossus has been shown to resist magnetos powers when wolverine was to trouble.

And mercury could be useful, if you consider she would be useful for magneto, he could kill all the x-men using her.
