New Lanterns *Spoilers

I love the idea of the new lantern champions, however there is only one candidate that really bothers me, and thats Mera. I mean of all the possible DC characters to wield rage they chose Mera. I just dont like it. What are your thoughts on the new ringslingers?

1. They wont last. Ganthet says it's for 24 hours only.
2. Mera is awesome, and with Aquaman coming back and all, she can use the attention.

I got nothing against Mera using the red ring.

I for one is shocked they had Mera become one, but it's good to develop her character a bit more, and for having it be a red was more surprising for me.

personally i liked scarecrow the best, he has had that ring coming for a long while... too bad its only 24 hours

I really wanted to see Mera and Wonder Woman throw down. The next Wonder Woman Blackest Night cover looks like we may get a glimpse of some action that took place off panel. Hope so.

I didn't like Mera too much either...woulda prefered Despero (not really sure if he's alive or dead atm and not sure if it matters) I mean it was he revived himself from formless energies from hate and will alone. Plus hate is all he seems to talk about.

I'm definitely buying a wonder woman star sapphire action figure.

I'm pretty happy with the quality of the GL series and Blackest night series. I still need to find the wonder woman figure from her recent series....

I didn't really get why Mera got a red ring. I like her but there are better candidates, like Damian or just about any other street leveler.

Johns has said that the main characters of Blackest Night are Hal, Barry, and Mera so it makes perfect sense for Mera to get a ring and with Johns building her up so much this might play into his plans for Black Manta being the next villain that he plans to build up

Hey why did all the resurrected characters get rings except Supes? I think he would obviously end up with a green or a blue ring, and since Barry got the blue one...
But seriously it wouldn't be the first time Supes had a power ring.

only one of the resurrected characters got a ring and that was Wonder Woman

Orange -Luthor
Yellow -Scarecrow
Green -Ganthet
Blue -Barry
Indigo -Atom
Violet -Diana

I love the idea of the new Lanterns. And I agree about Mera. There are plenty of other characters that could personify rage much better. But I don't hate it that much.

While I know it's temporary, I'd like to see more recruitment of Earthlings into the Corps - if the other Lantern Corps survive Blackest Night.

What exactly is said when one joins the Orange Lanterns(with yellow I know it's "you have the ability to instill great fear", while green it's "the ability to overcome great fear"....), what is the Orange Lantern Corps mantra?

I think it was something like, "You want it all" or something like that, followed by the user saying "Mine."

I suppose he does but I thought you were referring to the characters that were resurrected and got turned into Black Lanterns in issue 5

I hope that ray gets to keep his ring. His powers are good, but a indigo ring would seem like the next best thing for his character.

The blue one should have gone to Superman or Billy Batson (yeah, I'm fully aware that he doesn't have his powers right now) while the green one to Dick Grayson. It is canon story that Dick was one of the candidates for Hal's ring when Abin Sur died so it would have made sense for him to have it.

yeah I was pissed that Ganthet just took it...I would have rather seen an earth hero receive the ring

ehhhh Ganthet better than anyone can probably manifest his will as a light, so that makes perfect sense... Barry throughout Blackest Night has served as the Vanguard of Hope... And Dick was not a top Candidate for Abin Surs ring it was between Hal and Guy...
