So after finally getting the chance I decided to go ahead and read the issues so far of "Aquaman", and boy do I wish I would've done so sooner. Besides my newfound respect and love for Arthur, I've discovered an even greater love...in Mera. She is absolutely amazing. She definitely compliments Arthur, and I love how she doesn't tolerate half the crap Aquaman goes through, with the media often criticizing him. All in all DC has me now hooked to these two and I intend to follow them for a very long time. Big ups to Geoff Johns!

Mera has been one of the shining stars of the new 52.  

Indeed, I absolutely love her. Isn't she suppose to be joining the Justice League?

@wickedfun: Have you read Blackest Night? She gets a lot of spotlight there, as well as in Brightest Day.

But yeah, I agree. Johns has done a great job with Mera.

Mera is a superb supporting character and I think she has been written phenomenally in Aquaman. I love their contrast as characters in the series and she doesn't feel like some forced partner, but she is written in a way that really shows her love for Arthur.

@SmashBrawler: I haven't read either...yet. I just read the first couple of issues of Aquaman and fell in love with her there. I plan on getting the rest of the issues and maybe buying the trades of Blackest Night and Brightest Day.

@Blood1991: I can't remember what issue off the top of my head, but I loved the issue of Aquaman where she went to go shopping for food for the dog, and ends up getting arrested. Boy the laughs I had.

@wickedfun: Blackest Night's pretty cool. Mera doesn't have Arthur around, so she gets to kick a lot of ass by herself. Brightest Day reveals a lot of stuff about her past.

I always loved how even though Mera can come off as a bit bitchy and hard nosed to people who don't know her, she's alwas a softy to the man she loves. They're different and similar in very good ways.

As badass as Mera is, I'm now wondering why Aquaman hasn't convinced her to join the justice league. She would make an awesome member.
