    A journalist investigates a town where every resident, except one stranger, has forgotten his or her memories.  The Good There's a palpable sense of creepiness to these proceedings and every aspect of the book - - from the bleak grayscale to the hushed delivery to the clinging-to-calmness narration - - contributes to it.
