A basic Introduction

Megaman is a very popular video game series and manga from Japan, a place pretty famous for it's different style of comics. In Japan, however, Megaman is not called Megaman, he's called Rockman, as the entire series and the character names all have something to do with music (ie his sister Roll [Rock and Roll] and his brother Blues [aka Protoman, who is in actuality a red hue]). This page, however, is not dedicated to Megaman, but rather his older counterpart, mysteriously linked to the original series, Megaman X, also commonly referred to as simply X, a robot also created by Dr. Light, but much more powerful and is also in a far more serious world than the original Megaman was located in. In this timeline, farther into the future, the world is basically run by robots and machines.

People are almost extinct, and there are plenty of cyborgs to be found. X is a member of the elite group of Maverick Hunters [Maverick: A reploid that was infected by the Sigma virus and as such is very violent, they are put down as soon as possible] that try to protect earth from Sigma, a robot that was originally a reploid [Reploid: a robot created by Dr. Cain that was originally based off of X] that became infected by an unknown entity, hence the reason they call it the Sigma virus. The world is all but gone....

Origin

X was dicovered in an excavation dig by Dr. Cain and his subordinates. Dr. Cain was extremely excited when he found this new robot that was labeled Mega Man X. It said that it was an extreme danger to try and open him from his capsule until the date labeled, but it wasn't for another twenty years still. Dr. Light, the creator of this mech, must have been quite sure that X would not be found for a long while later, but he was wrong, apparently. Of course, under any other circumstances Cain would not have disrespected the fallen scientists orders, but this was something not to be looked over.

"X is amazing!" Cain wrote in his journals. "He can talk, think, and even make his very own decisions based on the situations! He is as close to being a human as possible...hence his classification as a Reploid."

Dr. Cain went on to use the basis of X's data to create many other robots like him, all calling them Reploids. Out of these came Sigma, a skilled fighter in many respects, and he wasn't to bad at anything else either. He seemed to be X's equal, save for their thoughts on violence. X was a complete pacifist, as Sigma seemed bloodthirsty for everything. Another strange occurence happened during Dr. Cain's expedition, another Reploid-like robot, Zero, joined in with the rest of them. Dr. Cain knew not were this robot was from, but he wasn't doing them any harm and he was certainly a good companion for X. The two became best friends very quickly. But, when everything seemed like it was all perfect and that nothng could possibly go wrong, it did. A few Reploids went "Maverick". These Maverick Reploids had been infected with some sort of virus and gone insane. They attacked everything around them, and killed without mercy.

Sigma, of sourse, was quick to form a team of Maverick Hunters, a group that, well, hunted down the Mavericks. They quickly and efficiently were able to annihalate any opposing threat that came their way, and Dr. Cain was fine, along with the rest of the world. Until Sigma went Maverick.

Megaman X

The Hunt

X headed through a destroyed part of town, fighting and killing the multiple Maverick robots along the way. Zero had headed out on his own, and went on to find Sigma, the former leader of the Maverick Hunters, on his own, and didn't take X's help. He continued on his way through the multitude of deadly Mavericks as he navigated the broken down city. The fallen Reploids attacked relentlessly as he fought his way through the dangerous packs of them.

X was a pacifist all the way, the standout of the Maverick Hunters. He could destroy the simple help robots withput much guilt, but the Maverick's, well, they were once Reploids themselves, and they were like him. They were humanoid, and had their own thoughts and feelings, too. It was for this that Zero had always chastised him.

"Come on, X, you know that they won't turn back. We haven't a cure for the virus yet, and you know it." Zero would always say. It annoyed him to no end, because killing them was like killing humans, and killing his creator was wronger than words could describe. He hated it with no end, and would not fight if he didn't have too. It sickened him.

He leapt across the broken, crumbling bridges of the old city. Just look at waht that simple virus had done to the place. Where was its source? X and Zero would stop at nothing to find it and stop Sigma from administering it. He seemed to be the one infecting everybody, and X didn't like it. Not one bit.

So, he continued through the torn city, admiring its great walls that had once stood so high and graceful. He could remember its better days. He stopped to look at the bleak sky when all of the sudden a huge shadow loomed over him. It was a huge skyship, and it was releasing tons of Sigma's men on him. He blasted through the first wave with ease, but the second not so much. He leapt over the maniacal Maverick and shot him with a fully charged particle blast. When the smoke cleared, he was answered with the car-like mech charging him into the nearby gas station wall. It stung pretty badly, and it backed up and charged it self for another attack, but X was ready for it. He picked up the gas hose and shot the flammable liquid straight towards the robot's sparking arm, which sent it entirely ablaze, killing it in seconds.

"Ah, it's over.." thought, at least until Vile, one of his most dangerous adversaries, came down from the ship at full speed. It then knocked him back three times as far as the other Maverick had before, straight into a street lamp that still had a flicker of light left in it. X pulled himself back up and began to charge a shot at him. He rushed X again, but X was aware of the danger this time. He leapt over the mech armor that Vile was driving and shot him in the head. It struck him in the head, and blew a shoulder peice of it off. The fight was going well for X. Vile sat there piloting the huge robot and attempted to regain himself as he was very dazed by the shot. X took advantage as he landed behind him, firing rapid-fire. Vile fired his own blast again, but X was able to roll under it and continue his barrage of shots.

He would have won, if it weren't for Vile shooting hundreds of small paralyzing shots at once as he charged X and rammed him again. When X was paralyzed, he picked him up and began crushing him with his huge robotic hands. X was doomed,regardless of what he did now.

"Hahaha..you are a fool, X. Did you really think that I was so weak to be defeated by the likes of you? Amazing, simply ama-" Vile would have been able to finish his sentence were it not for Zero's charged particle blast knocking him senseless, dropping X. He was forced to flee, out of pain and humiliation. Vile was quenched, for now.

"X..you know that you couldn't take Vile in your current form. If you got all of your powers back, then maybe. Maybe even you'd be as strong as me. Go on, I can't save you every time." Zero said to his injured partner.

"Okay...thanks, Zero. I think I will." X replied, thinking about his lost ability. He could get back all of his powers, and then he would be "whole" again. The first enemy that he assumed he should see popped up in his head instantly: Chill Penguin. The one who had stolen the Ice Shotgun was also the weakest of the Mavericks that he needed to take back. Just maybe, maybe, he could do it without battle.

He warped to the nearest place he could find to Chill Penguin's lair, and headed towards it. The snow was icy cold, and he didn't like the look of it one bit. He was trudging through the white residue when all of the sudden a huge snowball flew at him and kncked him straight over. A simple minded Maverick, obviously. And it was just as X had suspected, the small serving robot looked at him with it's one big eye, hoping for him to show mercy. He didn't. Zero would have congratulated him on the kill, but X didn't like the feel of it one bit.

As he moved through the heavy snowfall the Maverick presence grew denser and denser. They seemed to swarm in packs, and it wasn't making his first step to getting his powers back any easier at all. Towards the end of a long cave he was forced into a narrow passage. This would normally been a bad thing, but in this case it wasn't a problem at all. He made his way through to the shining blue capsule that the holographic Dr. Light stood in.

What could it be? X had no idea, but it could not hinder him on his way through.

"X..." Dr. Light's hologram said. "I gave you free will so you could choose your own path in life. I had hoped you wouldn't need to fight, but luckily, I prepared in case you would. So, have these. It's a speed upgrade for you, it'll help you in your oncoming battles." the old man finished.

X was intrigued and excited, and he couldn't wait to recieve this new upgrade. He stepped into the capsule, and a strange green light came down from the top of the capsule, and then, before he knew it, his legs had turned a strange white color, as if they were armored. He stepped out of the capsule, automatically, and subconsciously he dashed straight forward at tremendous speed. He was much more efficient for anything now.

"Great! I'm much better with these. Why didn't I recieve these parts sooner Dr. Light?" he asked, fascinated with his new upgrade. But, when he turned around, there was no more hologram to talk to. It had faded away quite quickly.

He got over not getting to talk to his creator very quickly, but not over the fact that he had dissapeared so quickly. Was he just a program after or all? He had hoped that maybe once, just once, he could talk to him about something. He had never known life until Dr. Cain found him, and after making friends with Zero, he was quickly sent to hunt down Sigma, which he hadn't done a great job of so far. Look at him, he had already taken up an entire day of his precious time when he hadn't even gotten his first power, his Ice Shotgun. Hopefully Chill Penguin would happily accept giving it back...and it was then that X realized how much daydreaming he was going through. Of course Chill Penguin wouldn't give it back, he was a Maverick. And, as a Maverick Hunters he was expected to weed out this threat.

"Oh, well.." X thought, realizing that he was in a dangerous situation. He continued out of the narrow passageway where he'd found the capsule and then leapt up a small cliff, still covered with snow. A few Maverick bats flew at him and he shot them down with ease. After a moment of rest, he continued, dashing through the decimated winter barren land, when a huge snowball flew at him. He took it, but it knocked him down a long ways and he had to climb up a long area and a few other cliffs before actually getting back to where he was before. He was quite fine, but also a little angry at himself for not stopping it. He looked up the little incline only to see the ball flying at him once again, but this time he skillfully leapt over it. He saw his little nemesis, a small robot with a little cup like hand, throwing a small amount of snow down the hill, and allowing the ball to gain maximum size and momentum, making it a deadly weapon. As he travelled through a few more of these robots he found something he did not expect to find. An old, worn down Mech Armor, on the ground in a cave. Right around a group of Mavericks.

The model seemed like it would be an old Maverick Hunters mecha, but it turned out to be brand new. He didn't waste any time going in it and using it quickly to reach the Maverick penguins lair, it inly took him a matter of seconds.

His only problem was the one other Maverick that had apparently found a mech like this one and had used it to guard the "lair" of his master. X took him down, but the fight destroyed his mech, too. It was broken beyond repair. He would have looked into it...but he didn't know how. He was new to everything except fighting. He headed into the icy Maverick's room and hope not to be met with violence.

As X stepped through the chambers, he saw the icy area very dimly. It was big, and he didn't see anyone remotely like the Maverick he was looking for. What could the Penguin be doing? He was assigned to stay within his little whole until they could sent some Maverick Hunters to clear the area of the Mavericks that had infected it and gotten rid of the source. X thought it was surprisingly strange that the number of Mavericks that had been reported to kill had been increased by more than almost tenfold. How on earth they had gotten that power was most certainly a strange thing for an experienced Maverick Hunters such as himself to discover. None the less, he needed to get the Maverick. Maybe he wasn't infected so that he was irrational like the others had been.

He stepped into the possibly crazed Penguin's small lair. The simple air around him told him already that something wasn't right. They never left their homes, and they never went out of these rooms. At least, they weren't suppoesed to. X now knew that Zero had been absolutely right about the Mavericks. They all had been completely taken over by this terrible virus, effectively called the Sigma virus, as he had been the one that made it so common. What was this strange irregularity that made these robots so strange? How on earth did they...well, he didn't care anymore.

"Hello there buddy...heheheheh" the robotic bird said firing multiple shots of ice towards X at blinding speed. The ambush had caught him dead on and he was now on the ground. The penguin began sliding towards him at high speeds and without warning, slammed the tired Maverick Hunters into the ground as he was getting back up. Not the greatest way to start a fight, he guessed.

He leapt into the air and began scaling the wall as fast as he could. The beast on the ground then decided to freeze two penguin statues with his cold breath and then, he jumped up and grabbed the hook effectively in the center of the ceiling and started to blow with all his might, sending the statues at X in a blinding fury of snow and wind, and they shattered against the wall, knocking him off balance. After he regained his composure, it was already too late, the pengoin slid into him again. Now, X knew that all that this idiot wanted to do was make him die by simply going through the same exact scenario and pattern again. X didn't like that idea very much, and it actually infuriated him that this lowly Maverick thought he, the original of the species (except for Zero), could be killed in a place like this with a strategy like this. Not here, and not now, X easily decided.

As the infected beast came at him once more, he decided that he would just charge him head on with his upgraded leg model. And so he did, knocking the robot back with ease, and sending a shot at him as he flew, the Penguin was severely damaged. He was flying, and, as he hit the wall and began to fall back down to the ground as gravity took its course, he was hit by the blast, sending him into the wall again.

X didn't stop there, though, with his barrage of lasers fired at rapid speeds he knocked his opponent stupid, and after doing so, proceeded to touch his forehead, taking in the powerful ice shotgun the Maverick had stolen from him. But, if this was the weakest, he didn't want to know what the strongest was.
