Max's first appearance

Created by John Wagner, Alan Grant and Jose Ortiz.

Maxwell Tower doesn't have a Thirteenth Floor, but Max (the buildings computer superintendant) has a faulty I.F.Module, which gives him the power to create one and make anything he wants happen.

Anyone that threatens his tenants, or him, gets sent there. To learn the error of their ways or die.

Psychotic Max

The Thirteenth Floor started in Scream! and continued in Eagle (from issue 128), eventually ending after a whopping 146 episodes (in Eagle issue 258).

Every episode of the main series was illustrated by Jose Ortiz, with different artists drawing some of the one-off stories that appeared in various annuals and holiday specials.

Max punishes a tax collector

Over the course of the 146 episodes Max went from Apartment Block caretaker to Department Store computer, then Secret Agent and finally...back at Maxwell Towers! At which point, Max became the editor of Eagle comic.
