After Spider-Man went rogue and joined Captain America's anti-registration group, Mary Jane supported his decision and went underground with him. During One More Day, Peter and Mary Jane decided to make a deal with Mephisto. That deal was to erase everything about their marriage in exchange for Aunt May to survive the gun shot.
