Still to this day I still hear people say its a horrible movie up there with X-men Last Stand and Spider-man 3,I dont read DareDevil's comic's but I enjoyed the movie alot. Can someone explain to me whats wrong with this movie?

#2 Posted by clemj (817 posts) - - Show Bio

@flashrobin: I actually liked the movie, it was a very good adaptation, only a lil short

..too cheesy! The scene with Matt and Elektra in the playground was awful (bit like Catwoman), the corny scene with Bullseye playing darts..it had some good bits, the fight with Kingpin being actually quite good, but overall I thought it struck the wrong tone....

It wasn't a bad movie (like Dark Knight series and Watchmen) but it wasn't great like Spiderman 2 and Avengers. Its was just above ok.

#5 Posted by Alak (925 posts) - - Show Bio

I wasn't fond of the theatrical release because it didn't feel all that cohesive and there were way too many cheesy parts. The director's cut, however, was much better imo since it removed the romantic element and replaced it with a criminal investigative storyline.

#6 Posted by clemj (817 posts) - - Show Bio

@alak: that's the thing, you all should watch the director's cut

I was just joking, I don't care if you have your own opinions. everyone has opinions. what do you hate about them though? and don't just give a generic "Bales sore throat voice sucks!"

Well the Director's cut was actually pretty good but the theatrical release was ruined by studio mandates.

Personally I hate dark heroes. Not the ones that ancestry can be traced back to Africa. =) Don't like Batman, don't punisher, until recently didn't like Wolverine but Marvel has been trying to change him from a Dark Hero to just a normal hero. Although whats weird is I like the way Arrow is perceived on CW. I dislike Daredevil the comic because of how dark it is.

dude then right now is perfect, Mark Waid is writing Daredevil, and its super light, its not dark at all, go read it! I am not a huge fan, but i can enjoy darker heroes.

Well to me it wasn't THAT bad.It was OK.Now the X-Men movie was bad.Juggernaut was disrespected so bad that I puke'd.And to be frank,I thought the Dark Knight series wasn't that bad.My only issues is Bane being under size and non-spanish.

#16 Edited by TheDarkDaredevil (554 posts) - - Show Bio

The movie was not to good but not that bad i think the word for this is ok but the worst part was with Elektra i don't want her to be in that movie but she was so anyway for me was ok

Ahh yes that juggernaut and i like the Batman movies and the games but in both of those series i didn't like Bane.

#18 Posted by KingAres109 (1252 posts) - - Show Bio

Yes the Arkham games is great(except Origins,I haven't played it just looked at it and its average compared to the 1st two). And I just don't get why Hollywood can't keep a character origins intact.Or at least have most of it correct.

The director's cut version is indeed better than what was in theaters, but it still sucked. The problems start with the fact that they tried cramming 40 years of DD history into a single movie. They pulled from just about every great storyline DD's ever had. A little here, a little there never giving any one story the attention it deserved.

God awful casting (top to bottom this movie was horribly cast) and over-the-top acting, both of which I blame on the director, as these actors are all very talented. Some how Mark Steven Johnson managed to pull awful performances out of nearly everyone.

Do I even need to mention the ridiculous "rock and roll" soundtrack?

Ugg. As a huge DD fan of over 30 years this movie was a knife in the heart.

I don't think Dare devil is as god awful as some other movies that come to mind but its definitely not the movie it could of been and i think that's whats most disappointing about it.that and the infamous playground scene.Micheal Clark Duncan was boss though. And this isn't really related but why do people in hollywood think flaming symbols are so bad@$$? looks like a horrible case of narcissism to me

#21 Posted by nintendork666 (284 posts) - - Show Bio

- Playground fight scene
- Too much Evanescence
- I didn't like the way they handled Bullseye whatsoever

These are the 3 things that always annoy me.

The director's cut is a damn good guilty pleasure for me otherwise though. I own it on blu-ray.

Are you kidding me? You are telling me that the Bane of the first to Arkham was good lol read things with Bane, the only thing that they have in common is that they both have for language Spanish.

Its okay not God Awful, it was far too short, Bullseye was awful etc

Affleck did good though

@manchine: Are you kidding me? Dark knight was great, and saying that watchmen is a bad movie is the same as saying that watchmen was a bad comic, since it was the same thing scene by scene!!

garner is a milf though and at that time she did a hit show wich made her a good choice. my issue wasnt the casting but the story was just like paris hiltons lady parts and that is sloppy

#34 Posted by longbowhunter (6797 posts) - - Show Bio

The soundtrack for starters. Watered down radio metal? Give me a decent score please. Bad casting with Affleck and Garner. Not nearly enough legal content for my taste. The directors cut rectifies that a bit. I wanted Bullseye in costume and the movie as a whole was pretty cheesey and lame.

Because it is.

#36 Posted by MideonNViscera (344 posts) - - Show Bio

Ah right, I forgot about Evanesence, who don't deserve to be Googled for correct spelling. That was actually the worst part.

two words : ben affleck - hes a horrible actor still cant figure out why in the hell would they choose him as batman? think about it the only director to cast ben affleck in movies is ben affleck. he cant act his way out of a paperbag

#38 Posted by deaditegonzo (3683 posts) - - Show Bio

Its cheesy, and certainly not "good", but its not terrible either. Id honestly say its about as good as a lot of Marvels movies, so honestly I dont understand all the hate. Id say the same for Green Lantern too.

exactly add Bens acting

#40 Posted by CuddleBear (1124 posts) - - Show Bio

they could have gotten away with playing evanesence once but they had to double dip. NEVER DOUBLE DIP THE EVANESSENCE!

#41 Posted by TazzMission (5488 posts) - - Show Bio

i cant believe this film is 10 years old. i thought it was older honestly. i just watched some of the fight scenes and they were pretty good but marvel needs to reboot dd fast and hopefully i hope they go with more of a parkour escrema hybrid for dd

you could stick any actor in that movie and it still wouldve sucked since the story wouldve been the same. if you think the movie failed because of affleck you dont know shit about movies.
