People saying Wolveine and Spidey are going by casuals and non comicbook/fandom. Deadpool is the internets mostppular solo fad now after Batman and Loki, Iron Man is not that far behind thanks to people still getting behind the Avengers fad.

Spidey hasn't been a huge fandom and popularity explosion since 2002, Wolverine is not popular period, he is just shoe horned and in everything thanks to good ol wolverine publicity.

In terms of icon status: Spider-man. Forever.

If we're looking at who's most popular among readers, probably Wolverine. If we're talking about people who just watch the movies then probably either Iron Man or Hulk.

Funnily enough, both comic readers and non-comic readers have some weird obsession with Deadpool (I find it particularly weird in the case of people who don't read comics). I don't see what all the fuss is about personally but if people like him then I'm happy for them

Well if you go by the one stat that measure this , Sales , then it is clearly Spidy.

I dion't count Spidey. His comics are aimed at and marketed towards idiots like Michael Bay Transformers are, he, or at the very least the inferior 616 version, ceased being iconic when he publicly unmasked and made a deal with Satan.

Sales? Pfft, if people measured it on quality alone that book is'nt worht beans. People buy the book because it's Spider-Man, not because of what actually goes on within it's contents, which is now so far removed from the core of the character they may as well call it something else

Magneto is getting popular and let me not lose hopeup that Medusa might get there as well.

I'd say the most known character in the Marvel universe is Spiderman, followed by Ironman, Hulk and other Avengers.

Iron Man going by the general public given that his solo movies do better than anyone else's by a huge margin and how heavily marvel promotes him in cartoons, games, and toys.

You cannot measure a character's popularity by their comic book sales given how small a portion of the Big Two's profits come from their comics, you have to include the merchandise, and Iron Man is killing it in merchandising and adaptations.

I personally think Spider-Man, but I'm wondering who's more iconic between Hulk and Iron Man.

@awesomekill15: Between the Hulk and Iron Man I think its for sure the Hulk. While Iron Man has been having a great push in recent years and more popularity thanks to the movies I do think the Hulk is more iconic. As a little kid I didn't know a thing about Iron Man though I knew the Hulk. Other generations didn't know much about Iron Man though they knew the Hulk from Lou Ferrigno. Just my thinking. Iron Man seems to have just became more popular in recent years.

I think Spider-man is the most popular followed by Hulk when it comes to being iconic. Popular right now would be the Guardians of the Galaxy, Deadpool, Iron Man, and Wolverine. Maybe even Captain America and Loki.

It depends on if you're talking about comic fans or the general public. Ironman and Captain America have a lot of fans who've never picked up a comic book or who have just started reading because of the movies. Long time comic fans...that really depends on who you ask. There are a lot of characters with significant numbers of fans. I don't know how you'd even decide such a thing. You can't even go by purchase numbers with so many books ending, changing drastically or getting writers people don't care for as a follow up to writers who were respected. I suppose I follow writers more than characters, although once you love a character, you always want to go back.

As cool as Deadpool is, Wolverine tops that. Sad to say, but Captain America is probably higher up in popularity right now. Not that I don't like him, but really?

As far as movies go, I think it is a tie between Wolverine, Thor and Captain America. Deadpool is probably the most popular comic character because he has 3 series going on right now I think. Maybe even more. Spiderman always is up there too when it comes down to name recognition

Wolverine is Punisher staus now, Spiderman and Deadpool basically run Marvel now as solo titles and company merchandise, The Avengers are the only ones who match that recognition and that is a team book gimmick not a solo hero one.

DP also is everyone fav at comiccon, dp is over Wolvie by a long shot. Hes the new edgy anti hero that everyone wants to be.

I can't decide between Iron Man, Spiderman, Wolverine Deadpool, and Thor.

Among general public? Imagine you ask 100 random people who's name is most recognizable. Spiderman...BY FAR. Every kid knows spiderman. They know Thor, Wolverine, Ironman, but not as well. Definitely not Deadpool. Now, among comic readers or Marvel aficionados? Again, most recognizable, Wolverine. Most popular might be Deadpool.
