Why? Favourite run that they've done?
Marvel
Formerly known by names including "Atlas" and "Timely", Marvel Entertainment is the publisher of comic books featuring iconic characters and teams such as the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, the Avengers, the X-Men, Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor, Captain America and Daredevil. Currently owned by the Walt Disney Company, Marvel is one of the "Big Two" comic publishers along with DC Comics.
Who's your favourite writer?
@raw_material: I've heard good things about Geoff Johns (Aquaman and Green Lantern). I'm loving Waid's Indestructible Hulk. Jeff Parker wrote the most recent annual though I believe.

Yea, believe or not, Geoff is a miracle worker and one of the best story tellers today. He gave the rebirth of two characters I idolize the most which are Aquaman and Hal Jordan aka Green Lantern. Although these are the two characters he's been noticably attracting new comic readers to, he's also making a very impressive run with the Justice League and Justice League of America. Geoff Johns has my vote for favorite writer any day of the week for sure.
Marvel Comics: Mark Waid (even though he wrote JLA: Year One a while back)
I wouldn't say 15 years is "a while".

What meant was, a decade and a half back.....lol
@billy_batson: He's a Time Lord.
@dagmar_merrill: Favourite arc of his?
@veshark: Is that the Dimension Z arc?
From Marvel?
Yost, Brubaker, Bendis.
Really like Matt Fraction and Jason Aaron's work recently too.
I don't really have a favorite writer, but from Marvel, Ed Brubaker's Captain America run.
I just recently finished it.
Excellence.
@fallschirmjager: I loved Inhumanity (Fraction). Jason Aaron's work on Thor:God Of Thunder and Thanos Rising have been fun.

Indeed. How far in did you read until?
@veshark: All of 50 issues of Volume 5 and 600-628 of Volume 6 and Cap and Bucky.
I like the earlier stuff a little bit more than the later, but it was all excellent.
Is his like 15 issue run on Winter Soldier (or whatever the number) any good? I haven't read that.

Nice. I'm just starting his last volume, which I believe is Volume 6 (the one with Steve McNiven).
Agreed, his Winter Soldier and Death of Captain America mega-arcs are probably the peak of the run.
Mm, haven't got around to reading it, but critical acclaim seems to be universal.
@veshark: Agreed.
I'll have to check it out sometime, then.
@grenadeflow: He has done amazing work with Avengers, New Avengers and Infinity.
