Which character if taking out of the avengers would cripple the team the most

If Wasp was never around, the team might not have formed, and if they did they probably wouldn't be called The Avengers.

Captain America, He is the heart and soul of the team, and the leader.

hulk, because he's the most dangerous.

Yep, and I would add Hank Pym / Ant-Man to the mix because he created Ultron.

Thor, he's been more pivotal in saving the world than any other Avenger.

Havok. I like him in the Uncanny Avengers. He seem to be a good leader for the future mutantkind.

I think the moral of this thread is that every founding Avenger (plus Cap) has played an important role in forming the Avengers, and the team would not be where it presently is without each one of their contributions.

Like Steve says in AoU, "Together."

Iron Man for sure. The Avengers wouldn't be as successful without his technology, money or even his thought process.

Thor has also had a huge role to play in major conflicts and stories, the Marvel universe could be incredibly different without his work with The Avengers.

In the comics its Cap, in the movies its Tony

@mj93: Black Panther, Hank Pym, Bruce Banner...they're are a lot of smart guys in the Avengers. And Hank and BP have money.

Iron Man isn't special, he's just more popular in the movies.

@superguy1591: I agree that there are other intellectual influences within The Avengers, I'm not even the biggest Iron Man fan, I just feel that he would be the most missed if he were gone. I feel that the technology that Tony brings to the table gives him the edge over Black Panther, Hulk and Hank.

In the movies, there should be no question that it's Iron Man. The most popular, most cheeky, and usually has the most screen time. Capt is a close 2nd here.

In the comics, how could you say anything but the leader...Cpt America? He is the glue that holds them together.

Truthfully you can remove any piece and they would be fine. There isn't one person that if removed would make the Avengers not the Avengers anymore. But those would be the 2 most missed if they were gone.

Cap is the most iconic member of the team and any great grouping of Avengers will have him in it. I think the Wasp, while not the most powerful member, is the heart of the team.

I feel like this might belong in the Avengers forum, rather than Marvel's. @god_spawn what do you think?
