What 3 Characters has Marvel Improved the Most ?

As the yin to my earlier threads yang, since the year 2000 to today, what 3 Marvel characters do you feel have been improved the most by Marvel and why?

This can be because of:

1 - Better / deeper characterization

2 - Positive involvement in events and / or becoming more central to the Marvel U

3 - Rise from obscurity or revitalized

4 - General awesomeness

I would go with:

1 - Jamie Madrox

2 - Ms Marvel

3 - Iron Fist

Emma might make my top 5 but I feel her development has been more hit and miss than others

  • Bucky Barnes: Went from being dead to being Captain America
  • Jamie Madrox: Unpredictable dupes and became a team leader
  • Pixie: Since introduction in 2004 has become an x-man and gained a soul dagger

Illyana Rasputin

Rogue (hit and miss though)

Emma Frost (again, hit and miss)

I can't really commit to any one outside of Magik because for every up, there is a down. Emma is going down presently and Rogue is hovering.

(for a bonus, can I say Gambit/Hawkeye?)

Totally forgot about Norman Osbourne. While I have not always liked the direction they have taken the character he definitely has had a wild last couple of years becoming a central character outside of just the Spiderman mythos.

Psylocke has never been better since Remender's X-Force.

Nova's rise pre-Annihilation, during and after was great. Now, they've screwed it up and gone a different direction with the new Nova.

Bucky would have been in the running if Marvel had not recently decided to go on a mission to undo a lot of his development in recent months.

just do not let Mercy see this, she is broken up enough and does not need to be reminded again.

Magik is for sure being featured more, but I am not really a fan of the direction taken overall. They are laying a lot of seeds but not really developing enough of it to keep me interested.

Again he has got a lot more exposure, but the push was forced all the way through and made zero sense IMO.

To suggest Kaine.

To suggest Flash Thompson.

To suggest Legion.

I do not follow Spidey so I have nothing on Kaine and Flash

As for Legion, his rise is still too new to see if it lasts

Same as Bucky, Marvel made massive progress with the character only to throw it all away for reasons unknown.

Any character that had a little spark they've destroyed accept Misty Knight, she's the only character i've seen progressively get upgrades and more face time. As soon as Dan Slott gets me to like Amadeus Cho & Hank Pym..we start seeing less and less of them. As soon as I started liking Bucky as Cap, they killed him off. As soon as I started liking Kate Bishop, they brought Hawkeye back from the dead. As soon as Stature solidified herself as a decent Avenger, she was killed.

Emma Frost: as others have said writing for her can be hit or miss

Jamie Madrox: this current run of X-Factor has been great for Madrox

Hawkeye: for a character that has been around for a long time he is undergoing a renaissiance right now. Right now he is a very cool character and new fans are gravitating to him.

Honorable mention for me goes to Dazzler who for years languished on the sidelines has finally recieved some time in the sun with a good creative team. Sorry to see it end so soon.

Emma Frost: is probably one of the deepest characters once you get past the wit and sass. Really enjoy her character but lately she has not been written well at all, but I think we'll see a better side of her sooner rather than later.

Pixie: Definitely has been a growth in this character since 2004. She's been through a lot for a girl her age. Loved her in Quarantine arc, New X-Men, and X-Men series.

Magik: She's been a hit or miss with me. Loved her return in New Mutants, not a fan of her at the beginning of UXM v.2. I feel like the writer totally wrote her off as a different character from what happened to her in NM. Loved her as a host of P5 and love her right now in UXM.

Doc Ock: Not only is he now Spider-man but also a hero-mutant-hating a$$hole! Go Marvel! *sarcasm*
