why is war machine more popular than blade ? 
why can't blade get his own solo and sustain his own series? 
between the two who a better developed character war machine or blade ?

Blade is dry and lame.

In truth, neither can support their own series, even War Machine's series' get canceled after a while, not trying to be a downer, but even this new Iron Man 2.0 book that's coming I have a feeling won't make it either, he just can't support a book on his own.
 
As for why War Machine's is liked more than Blade? I think personally it's because he's cooler, he's this awesome black guy in a rocking suit of armor with huge guns and rocket launchers all over it, how can you NOT love that? As for Blade, I think it's because people get tired of vampires after a while and his character just isn't that interesting to be honest.

then why doesn't war machine have a love interest like black panther or luke cage @ War Killer. did u like the way he was portrayed in the movie iron man 2. 
  
blade has 3 movie and an anime series coming up he must have a pretty strong fanbase for someone not well liked. for blade they could give him a duo book like hawkeye & mockingbird except  only with blade and spitfire called blade & spitfire supernatural hunters.   

For me the main reason why neither are successful enough for their own series is because they are lacking the basics...
They have no rogues, no long term love interests...
 
As for War Machine, he's a sidekick. It would take a major rewrite to get him to go solo. Who would he fight and why? He's too powerful to be a regular street hero.
Blade's problem is that he's one dimensional. He lives only to kill vampires... His only arch enemy is Dracula? For him to stand on his own long term it would take a serious rewrite also.
 
That's too much trouble for a writer, assuming that Marvel allows such drastic changes to franchised characters. It would be easier to just create new ones!
