When comics meet video games its like a marriage of two great, awesome things that we can't get enough of...usually. When they are good, they can be amazing, as was the case with Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and more recently, the release of Batman: Arkham City. When it's bad, though, it can be really bad (and those games shall remain nameless). For those of you who absolutely loved and could not get enough of Marvel vs. Capcom the third time around earlier this year, then you may want to consider investing in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom due to hit stores in North America on November 15th.

So you're probably asking yourself, I already have the original release, why the heck do I need the Ultimate version, right? What's so different about it? According to the official Capcom site, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom will not only feature the return of all the characters we saw in Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but we will see the introduction of 12 new fighters as well as 8 all new stages and some new color palletes/costume skins that will be sported by both old and new characters alike. Some of the color palletes are very cool (Deadpool), yet others, like the Doom 2099 are, well, not very accurate. Frankly, it takes more than giving Doctor Doom a red cape to make him look like Doom 2099; but we'll let you come to your own conclusion in the picture comparison below. Still, it's cool to see Capcom take some inspiration from the character designs in the comics and apply them in the new game.

Some of the new Marvel playable characters include Hawkeye, Nova, Doctor Strange and Iron Fist as well as many others. You can check out the full cast of characters (both former and new additions) here.

Above is a teaser trailer for the game that was released by Capcom just in time for New York Comic-Con. The trailer showcases some of the abilities of new playable characters like Nova, Ghost Rider and Iron Fist -- and we have to say, Nova looks pretty awesome. Check out some of the new color palette additions to characters we've seen before who are making their return like Deadpool and X-23, as well as new additions like Nova, below.

The video is not the full cast. Two are still missing, as they haven't been officially announced yet. I can only remember the missing one from the Marvel side, which is Rocket Raccoon.

This game is a terrible terrible example of what Capcom is known for doing.

Marvel vs Capcom 3 released in February this year...why are they releasing an updated game November of the same calender year!? More and more, it seems like games are purposefully putting less into the game and trying to make more money by saving content for dlc or a whole new edition of the game.

That said, I will be getting this lol

@xhavoc86: Very true, this frustrates me to no end. But I gotta say the FPS market is waaaayyyyy worse about DLC releases right after the game drops.

Gonna pick this up since I lost my copy of the reg version. Still really wish they would add some classics of the franchise: Venom, Ken, Gambit, Megaman (sucks in game, I know but just out of respect), Cap Commando... So many greats.

DAMN, don't let anyone tell you that this game doesn't offer costume options. It's a nice touch that they are costumes straight from the comics. I never played MvC 3 originally. I didn't like how Jill Valentine was kept out unless you bought DLC. Also, fighters are just a genre of games that aren't really fun anymore unless you are crazy good at them. They're better to rent and play around with.

I'm a bit disappointed that Franziska Von Karma doesn't play a supporting role for Phoenix Wright. I love her in the games.

That's kind of Capcom's thing. Look at Street Fighter 4. They released that, then not long after released Super Street Fighter 4. There was then Arcade Edition SF4, but this time they made that DLC.

great variety but some of the costumes look rushed, sloppy or show some laziness on behalf of the programmers (chestline on cap's space costume from the animated series)

ghostrider and deadpool are going to be my go too guys, with spiderman in his iron spider uniform

its also worth a mention that all of the characters from the original game are getting a re-balanced and brand new moves, and also improved online. i think this is easily worth 40 bucks as a package...or would you rather pay 5 bucks a character? or 2-5 bucks for stages?

Capcom let me down.

ROCKET RACCOON? Really? They pass up Venom, Daredevil, and IDK 500 better choices. I am at a loss for words.

Soooooo hype for this! I think there's enough content to warrant another release. Maybe not $40, but I love this game so I've already pre-ordered it. I think the attention to detail such as Strange's hand gestures for spells, and actually pulling color schemes from alternate versions of a character or different costumes is awesome! Since they can't change the character model of the character, the costumes aren't perfect, but I think it's a pretty good effort!

Not only that, the movies and videogames have an incompatible relationship.

Red and Brown nova are the same... I hate Caps Avengers: Earth mightiest heroes costume because his original red star one was a LOT better... Doom has TWO red capes...

But they did really save Storm from crappy alternates, and X-23 finally has her x-force costume... so not all is bad :P

This Ultimate version has four of my favourite characters (Hawkeye, Dr. Strange, Rocket, and Nova), whereas the original had one (Hulk), so when people ask, "Why would anyone buy this?", there is your answer ;)

Now if only they'd add Moon Knight :D
