It was previously announced that Mark Millar and Steve McNiven'sOLD MAN LOGAN would have a spot on Battleworld. Now, we know who's behind the title: Brian Michael Bendis and Andrea Sorrentino! The writer says this "completely follows" the original arc's continuity and claims it'll one one of the "most important chapters of the Secret Wars universe." Bendis also specified that readers do not need to read the original story to jump on this title. However, we strongly recommend checking it out since it is a thoroughly awesome adventure.

This sounds great. I recall in the end of the last story arc, Dr. Doom appeared. They're probably going to focus on him taking over after Red Skull's death.

Why does everyone on here hate Bendis so Much? I've liked what I've read from him (granted I've only read Ulimate spiderman and his Daredevil run)

Most of the people here have read Guardians of the Galaxy, All New X-Men, or the ridiculous number of titles he controls in both franchises. Were not amused.

@cmd735: Because that is the last time Bendis wrote anything good for Marvel. I will defend that Ultimate Spider-Man (both Parker and Morales) is one of the best comic book runs EVER. However, that does not excuse the amount of rubbish that he has been spewing out since Secret Invasion started.

It is possible to dislike some runs a writer makes and like other runs they've done at the same time. Everybody is so obsessed with black and white, but it's not that simple.

All-New X-Men are good if long.

I feel like people keep asking "What's so bad about Bendis?" because no one gives any actual constructive reason for disliking him, so here goes:

Bendis has severe problems with continuity and character consistency, often forcing characters with long-established personalities to act irrationally and dumbed-down to rush a storyline to a hurried conclusion.Characters subjected to Bendis' writing style often come across as caricatures of their former selves or disregard their own moral boundaries/character flaws for the sake of jumping the plot forward and/or comedic effect.

This effect is compounded by the frequent character cross-overs that occur in his books, as all of the guest characters come across as props, even more so than the reoccurring cast.

That is why I do not like his writing and am now actively avoiding his books.

Lol, you know what.....I just got through writing two very long, detail and constructive post about why All New X-Men is a bad book so I don't have it in me at the moment to fight this...

But i'll say this much. The premise is:

"O5 X-Men journey to the present and find their futures and the future of mutants aren't what they had in mind. They make the decision to stay and fix it."

Now ignoring all the issues with character development and story structure that i don't feel like getting into... What has this book done to further its premise?

An alternate take on Old Man Logan? This should be fun. Who's involved? Sorrentino? Nice. Nice. And... B-Bendis???????????????????!!!!!!!!!

im not sure any wirter should be writing more than 3-4 books, Bendis already has Ult Spiderman, Powers, ] US Murder inc, Guardians, guardians team up, all new xmen, uncanny x men and old man logan and hes producing a tv show. granted the two xmen books are ending and I guess ultimate spiderman is too, theres no way any writer can put their full effort into every thing. and Bendis' work suffers for it He starts of strong but as he gets another book and another the older books suffer and drag and get boring. Except Ultimate Spider man thats his baby.

@anjon: Then again, all current writers "bend" (no pun) characters more or less to fit the plot. And Bendis gets some real nice character beats AND cool action when in good form. Considering this Wolverine is from an underdeveloped alt U worrying about characterization might be a bit exaggerated.

My thoughts exactly. I feel bad giving a guy who's been in comics so long so much guff, but as we have seen when Bendis is on a series not suited for, it becomes a mess. Although he has handled characters like Moon Knight very very well, so who knows this could be pretty good.

At any rate I defiantly agree they really should have tried harder to get Millar, and that it feels a bit wrong he's not writing this.

@captainmarvel4ever: Maybe if it was in an alternate universe (The ultimate universe moon knight by Bendis was also not that good, but excusable.) It'd be good but it wasn't and it tried to remake a character that didn't need to be remade, just executed well. And for that I thank Ellis.

Bendis always thinks everything he writes is one of the most important things going on for Marvel
