There's no denying the fact that people enjoy a good variant cover. Marvel has just announced a theme for August's books--Manga Variants. The covers will be done by popular manga artists.

Here's the cover for AMAZING SPIDER-MAN: RENEW YOUR VOWS #4 by Yusuke Murata.

Here's the cover to CIVIL WAR #3 by Katsuya Terada.

We'll have to wait for more details on who will be doing these covers.

Also announced is some titles for Marvel's "True Believers" comics. These will be introductory issues available for $1. It's a way for readers to check out some characters if they haven't been reading the series before. These titles will have a "Women of Marvel" theme.

Or better the annonce of one shot by japanesse artist that will be interesting if they are free to do what they want.

I never buy variant covers, but I completely support the idea of them. These two look great.

Manga artist drawing Marvel variants? I'm intrigued. I'm curious which ones will be drawing them. I'm real curious to see how Old Man Logan, Spider-Island, Planet Hulk & Thors will look like.

Why this cover sucks?
"Like a maternity dress" isn't meant to be positive that's why. It's quite difficult to think of anything positive about it. Well, the painting technique I do like (a lot, actually) but the actual image... I don't feel it.

Why I can't call him mangaka (talking about this cover)?
This variant is not what I would consider a master piece of manga art then.

However, you have all the right in the world to think otherwise. That's the best thing about comics really: There's something for each and every one of us. Very often there's love and hate when talking about the very same comic, or cover.

For the mangaka part, but I understand why people will dislike this cover.
