Marvel Is Celebrating Their 70th Anniversay With Parties Nationwide

You're probably aware that Marvel is celebrating their 70th Anniversary.  Today marks that special day for them.  To commemorate this milestone, today, Tuesday, August 11, the celebration spreads around the world (you can download the full list HERE).  Over 500 comic shop retailers will be hosting parties to celebrate Marvel's 70 year history.  There will be an early sale release of The Marvels Project #1 along with other limited edition and variants.  The retailer parties begin at 9 p.m. local time.
 
Along with these celebrations, Barnes & Noble is hosting five in-store events with special appearances:

Damn, all these cool events like Comic-Con and the Marvel Anniversary are never in the UK. The UK deserves attention.

My local comic shop is holding a party tonight... no special guests though. Should be fun though. Lots of prizes being given away... and FREE CAKE.

Normally, I'm a fierce opponent of variant covers. I think it's an abused practice in Marvel and other major companies. On this issue though, the celebration of seventy years in comics. This is completely justified.
 I just wish the hero variants weren't so flat.
