This is an idea that seemed likely but also one that felt it like it would never happen. LEGO is in the unique position of holding licenses from several different properties including rival comic book companies Marvel and DC. We've seen several LEGO video games including some Batman ones. Even though we've seen a few different Marvel LEGO sets, it just didn't feel possible that we'd see a video game.

It turns out dreams do come true. Game Informer just posted this video.

Developed by TT Games and working with LEGO and Marvel, the game is due for Fall 2013 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, PC, DS, 3DS and PlayStation Vita. The game will feature an original story that has Nick Fury call upon Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Spider-Man and Wolverine to save Earth from Loki and Galactus.

Seriously, I don't need to know anymore. I'm completely sold on this.

Apparently more than 100 Marvel characters can be unlocked including Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Deadpool and more.

Imagine if someday we could get a LEGO Marvel and DC game...

I had a feeling this was bound to happen. Batman has had two Lego games, the second of which was more like a Lego Justice League. Here's hoping for the more recently licensed franchises to get the same treatment (i.e. NINJA TURTLES).

I'm in the middle of playing Lego Batman 2 right now. They did such a good job on that game; I can't wait to see what they have in store for Lego Marvel!

I always liked the Star Wars LEGO games and the Indiana Jones LEGO game was meh. But this will stomp all those games, hahaha.

It's kind of crazy that Warner Brothers Interactive is publishing a Marvel video game...

I hope they have characters like Doctor Doom (my biggest wish), Black Panther, Thanos, Hank Pym Antman, Wasp, the Fantastic Four maybe even Venom and Carnage.

YES!!!!! I literally don't think any other entertainment related news could make me as happy as this does. Lego Batman is one of the only games I have ever 100 percented and now I get to play it with the Marvel characters I love so much! I can't wait.

Am I the only one noticing that Marvel has been making 4 games which has the "Gotta catch em all" pokemon style except with Marvel Heroes?

I'm playing the Star Wars now and like it a lot. Going to probably check out the Batman games once they get cheaper or combined into a single package like Star Wars did. Of course if the Batman games are fun the Marvel is a must for me since I'm more of a Marvel fan than DC.

DC Super Heroes is great, but you didn't unlock any characters besides Batman and Robin until 2/3 of the way through the game. This Marvel game hopefully won't make the same mistake.
