" @KillerCroc09 said:You can't reveal that kinda info! This whole thing might start making sense to people" Okay really no why.....what's next Nintendo buying DC!? "No because DC is owned by Time Warner (Warner Brothers) "
OK this is just WRONG!!! How is a childs franchise like Disney gonna handle the rough hardcore (and even rated R) stuff that Marvel has?
I think this is going to be awful.
The movies might be "better" but more family fun.
I wanted the movies to harden up not soften up.
;{
That and if they even f**k with the comics....
But whatever,
I'm into graphic novels now and stories that have an end.
(anyone know anything about BOMB QUEEN?)
Well I'm a DC man myself and I think the Warner Bros. DC deal is great Marvel and Disney idk honestly.
As you say: " ...till it doesn't work anymore then let it fade away and buy up the next new thing. They did this with the Muppets which kinda pissed me off."
" that's it, i am officially a DCer now. "What if this isn't true or Disney really doesn't buy them?
I've said other places. I have real mixed feelings about this. On the one hand Disney can market the Marvel characters though cartoon form to tweens (a demographic they own), hook them on the X-Men, Spider-man, etc. , and bring them (and much needed new readers) into the adult comics when they're teens/adults with perfect synergy. Of course the question is if they'll be ANY adult comics for the new readers to come into or will (Marvel) comics start to be seen as "kid-stuff" again and if that happens....Usually when one thinks Disney one imagines the squeaky clean wholesome image they love to put out (it could be argued that the squeaky cleanness becomes too much for people and so their former stars do insane things to get out of that image. Britney/Justin Timerlake and soon Miley). So Disney, in the interest of making more money and selling comics in places like Wal-Mart, your local supermarket, i.e. "family places". could come down with the Mickey Eared hammer on the comics division. It's possible they'll be some pressure from "family groups" like Focus On the Family and the PTC who will demand that Disney use these characters to bring "much needed morality back into comics" (I expect FOTF or Brent Bozell to have an article on this sometime this week. I'd be disturbed if they didn't).
On the other hand, Disney does own movie studios that DO put out R-Rated movies. And ABC does have some adult programing (I believe. I hate ABC so..) So it is possible that Disney could leave the comics division alone so long as they completely control the animated divisions. Of course this means that it's unlikely we'll see any more adult comic based DTV's from Marvel, but as long as they leave the comics alone that's a fine trade for me (and DC was beating them anyway in the DTV area). Butcher the animated versions of Marvel's characters all you want Disney just leave the comics alone. All in all though, there's nothing to do but wait and see. Major mergers like this don't happen overnight. So nothing will change for awhile we can only wait.
However the emotional over reactive knee-jerk fanboy in me demands some kind of rant. I think I'll draw a picture with Green Lantern making Mickey Mouse and Hannah Montana constructs and kicking the crap out of the Marvel Universe. (and for that ONE person out there. Yes I know GL can't beat the MU by himself the picture is about a whole different message. DC Comics+Disney=MU beatdown this year) and make a You Tube vid in the meantime.
As INSANE as this news is I'm willing to live with it for now.
An article I read quoted JoeQ on his twitter page saying
I wish he used the word all instead of favorite."Everybody take a deep breath, all your favorite comics remain unchanged,"
What does this mean for Marvel movies and everything else? Beats me
can i point some things out to all these whiney fanboys?
1: Disney also owns Miramax. the guys who distrubuted There Will Be Blood and No Country For Old Men. it's pretty fucking safe to say we wont see mouse ears on Doctor Doom.
2: Joe Quesada has done a better job of running Marvel into the ground than Disney could ever do.
3: DC Comics is owned by Warner Brothers, and has been for the last 4 years, so any DC fanboys yucking it up can shut up too. but i should also point out that DC has been doing much better creatively as a whole for the last 3 years, and that's after a whole year of being owned by the Bugs Bunny company.
4: Disney has a well documented history of how they treat the companies they own, and one word alone should mitigate your b*tchy squaking: Pixar.
5: Marvel is now a movie studio, not unlike the afformentioned Miramax, and Disney puts major clout behind any movie connected to them.
6: that old platitude about disney being a big, heartless corperation is outdated, the CEO who tried to run the company into the ground has been gone for years, and like i said before, Joe Quesada is doing a fine job of fucking up Marvel on his own right now.
last point: do you know what this changes? absolutely nothing. at all. really. Marvel is still going to be Marvel, except they'll have bigger budgets for thier movies, better developers on thier video games, and more money to throw around thier weight. boo freaking hoo.
" As INSANE as this news is I'm willing to live with it for now.Even after that post from Joe Q, people will still freak out. No one seems to be listening to any reason. They think their books will all have Mickey Mouse in them from now on. Disney and it's subsidiaries do some great "adult" films, but no one pays attention to that. They only want to focus on the kids stuff.

Especially in the 40's
great now wolverine has to work harder now keeping his pimp record intact by hooking up with every disney girl LOL

whats gonna happen to the hulk, storm, and spiderman rides at universal studios in florida will they be moved to disneyland
reading the fine print there. Disney bought a portion of Marvel stock.
the rest of the article discusses a what a "potential" merger would do,
and continues throughout using such terms, as what " it would be like",
ect. and "merge", "not own". goes against everything Marvel has done,
especially while they were under Chapter 11. people need to read the fine
lines before buying the hype. Disney already has a partial deal going with
Marvel as it is, being that Toon Disney is the channel showing the largest amount
of Marvel cartoons past and present. this is reffering to a partnership expansion,
not forced takeover. the rest is speculation in the article and worded as such.
yeah,,,,Marvel Comic fandom is like a chicken with it's head cut off. But the big question remains:" @DMC said:

How many variant covers will the first issue of the new Hannah Montana comic series have?
(found it in an article, I had to post it)
saw this posted by someone elsewhere, not sure if it was posted
But one area where Marvel represents a risk for Disney is that the company has tread carefully around the burgeoning super hero genre because of concerns of how action -- read violent -- fare might muddy the Disney brand. (In comics, Marvel publishes some fairly adult fare.)
Internally, Iger says he began to think of Marvel stories using "real bullets", while Disney uses "fake bullets." His team became convinced that while there are obvious ways in which the Marvel Universe will spill into Disney's, the brands are going to remain distinct.
"Not everything we do has to be Disney-branded, although that's the priority." And while it will make sense to have Spider-man join the ranks of Mickey and Goofy among "walk around characters" at its theme parks, Iger noted, "you wouldn't have the Punisher character walking around one of your parks." At the same time, he added: " This is not going to be about Disney sanitizing Marvel in any way."

Even more important. How many Disney lawyers will come knocking on online sites saying "You can't use our images this way/at all." Disney is VERY protective over anything it owns.
How many variant covers will the first issue of the new Hannah Montana comic series have? (found it in an article, I had to post it) "
And that has me worried that in 5 years Disney might reverse the second bolded part.
