I'm assuming Chaos War happens after Thanos Imperative.

Galactus wasn't starving at the beginning of Chaos War though, he was simply about to feed when Herc called him to Earth.

Devastation has not yet been released.

@tensor: Galactus is always hungry. After Annihilation, he was starving due to Thanos' device which only powered him enough just to keep him alive. He needed to consume much more energy and took on two heralds. He was further starved by Beta Ray Bill in Godhunter. After that, he ate the planet Sakaar, and the Old Power filled him for what should have been 100,000 years, but Skaar ruined it by giving him too much Old Power. He recovered from this, but he is no longer starving.

@tensor: There is no understanding what Galactus does, Galactus does what Galactus must do. He does not feed because he is hungry, he feeds because he must, it is part of the cosmic balance.

Which makes no sense.    Galactus just outlasted Tenebrous, Aegis, a several Celestials fighting the Galactus Engine in Thanos Imperative.  If we are to assume Chaos War happens a relatively short amount of time after TI, then it isn't much of a stretch to assume that the planet Galactus was about to feed on when Herc summoned him was his meal to recuperate after TI.

Even if it wasn't, looking at it from a writer's perspective Pak clearly intended for Galactus to be at diminished capacity here or he wouldn't have bothered to reveal Galactus "was seconds from sating himself"  when Hercules brought him to earth.

Then there's the art.  Galactus is clearly drawn with a shirveled faced, unlike every other character in the book, in Chaos War.

The only conclusion that can be drawn is that Galactus was indeed very hungry or near starving during CW.     Galactus isn't always hungry, he feeds as the hunger thunders its demands.   We know he feeds about once a month, and that his abilities begin to decrease from "sated" levels after just a couple a weeks.  The Galactus that showed up in CW was very clearly in a diminished state.
