In the first minute of the interview, when asked about the Marvel/DC rivalry, Hemsworth comments:

    No Caption Provided
    No Caption Provided

    BEFORE anyone starts flaming....

He's obviously joking when he said that, it was more tongue-in-cheek.

If you watch the rest of the interview, he does say that it's a good thing both DC and Marvel are putting out superhero movies - because the industry thrives from the competition.

    Credit goes to CBM.

He's right. Football rivalries in Europe often get violent between fans.

What do Marvel/DC fans do? They debate, and rarely in person.

YOU KNOW WHERE IT'S AT!!! :)

LOL ok,in all seriousness,DC is digging their grave now. They've been doing it since 2011.

And people often think that they HAVE to choose and pick sides and that they have to insult the other...it's just so petty.

Marvel has made 12.5B$ gross revenue world wide (30 movies). http://www.boxofficemojo.com/franchises/chart/?id=marvelcomics.htm

DC has made 6.28B$ gross revenue world wide (25 movies). That includes vague DC offshoots such as RED, RED 2, Watchmen, The Losers, V for Vendetta, and Jonah Hex. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/franchises/chart/?id=dccomics.htm

To put this into perspective, DC would have to release SIX additional movies that rake in as much as their highest grossing movie ever (TDKR), and they STILL wouldn't reach Marvel's total gross. Now couple this with the notion that by the time Batman vs. Superman (DC's next movie) has finished its theatrical run, Marvel will have its name on NINE additional movies.

    1. Big Hero Team 6 (2014)

    2. Fantastic Four (2015)

    3. Avengers 2 (2015)

    4. Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)

    5. X-men: Days of Future Past (2014)

    6. Thor: The Dark World (2013)

    7. Ant-Man (2015)

    8. Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

    9. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)

Marvel has already doubled DC's overall movie grosses. Just imagine what the gap will be like by 2016. 10 'TDKR's? 15? This isn't even remotely close.

But in truth I think DC main strengths are in animation stick to that as your strength hell even Marvel fans know our animation series reek of crap.

    Actually Wolverine08 is right.

Although if we're just talking about which one we like better then that's just opinion. So there is no right or wrong answer.

Marvel has made 12.5B$ gross revenue world wide (30 movies). http://www.boxofficemojo.com/franchises/chart/?id=marvelcomics.htm

    True.

It's bad enough for DC that, not only are they slow at the moment (and the new 52 basically sucks),but Marvel really is going on all cylinders. And this is in terms of everything. Comics,Movies,Animated movies, etc. I mean...damn.

    This completely.

People can complain and delude themselves otherwise but it's the truth. A large number of people hate the new 52. Marvel is dominating in,like, every possible category save for animation. I mean,in the past I considered the two equals,but...not anymore..not even close.

And in terms of animated movies,Marvel isn't even that bad. Just, like,a tier under.

The kind when DC when overboard in making their the majority of their villains cold, heartless, mass murdering, cliche origins of parental abuse, sociopaths with very little distinction in personality other than "I kill billions me evil". The only thing missing I found in Joker's issue was the lack of the violinist in the background playing "Wah, Wah" music 's Joker's origin.

@cameron83: Yeah I'm gonna have to disagree I find the animation from the Marvel cartoons as bad as the 1960's cartoon and Super Hero Squad thats horrid given Disney should be giving them higher quality animation.

You can't deny that there are still good quality comics coming out of the New 52. Admittedly they are outranked by the overall approach to comics but there are some good series remaining. Not to mention that people who don't like the New 52 still like DC's digital first series. Critically, Injustice, Adventures of Superman, Batman Beyond, Smallville: Season 11 and Batman 66 have been doing well and have sold fairly well too. Though this is just me, I'm still leaning towards DC over Marvel in terms of back up series I'd like to read. Though admittedly, this is because Marvel Now hasn't been kind to most of my favourite Marvel properties. Spider-Man, The Avengers and Fantastic Four aren't in places I like atm.

Marvel makes more money but when has monetary success been indicative of artistic quality? Sure, Avengers was cool, but Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy blows away every Marvel film. Iron Man 1 has a terrible third act. Iron Man 2, Thor, and Captain America were'nt very good and only serve as appetizers for the Avengers. I haven't seen Iron Man 3 so I can't comment on that. DC may not be killing it now in terms of quality comics but I seem to remember a time when Marvel wasn't exactly cranking out hits (most of the 90's and early 00's). You can disagree with me all you want about Nolan's Batman but they are technically well made films and not glorified toy ads.

Both companies have had there high water marks, Marvel is just in the middle of theirs.

@martianmanhunterisbetterthancy: No different than the crap quality DC puts out with its current garbage of turning Batman villains into cheap knockoff horror icons. Joker Leather face and Scarface Ventriloquist SAW. Lets not forget those wonderful fridge kill on the Kents to make Superman more like Batman, how original "end of sarcasm". Also those Marvel titles you mention I don't follow them so I could care less whats happening.

See here is my main problem with this. Marvel only beats DC in the movie verse, but DC outclasses Marvel on the animated area and video game area while the fact that DC heroes and villains are more iconic, anyone can recognize a shirt with the logo of the big seven on it, even third world countries have seen a Superman logo most likely. In the comic book area I think that they are tied when it comes down to quality but I prefer DC because of Batman. So when you really think about it.....
