My thoughts exactly. Even DC's Trinity war is falling prey to it. Why can't there be a big bad guy that unites all heroes into combating the threat rather than bickering amongst themselves.

So basically what we need is some kind of 'Kingdom Come Superman' thing. All the heroes today are just fighting among themselves, not doing any real hero work, and causing a lot of collateral damage on the side. So we need some classic old-timey truth-and-justice hero to swoop in and pwn them and show them how to be heroes again.

Indeed. That, or the writers need to step up these villains games again.

It doesn't help that a lot of Marvel's villains today are now a bunch of reformed sissys. 'Cept Thanos...

Ultron War. That is definitely where Bendis is going before he leaves the Avengers comics.

I'm thinking that the Phoenix Five kick the crap outta the Avengers, which is then going to give us ''No More Avengers," showing how Tony and Steve take a loss. Then they decide along with Thor to get back at Cyclops and his comrades thus bringing Us ''War."

I was merely suggesting we reserve judgement until we know exactly what this is, and who will be working on it (heck, maybe even until we've actually read it but this ComicVine we're talking about so that's a silly idea.) If it is the Ultron War, I'm not too interested after what I read in Point One, but you don't see me spewing hate all over the forums, there's no need, and honestly, there's already more than enough of that on the internet.

Not sure if anyones interested, but Image is putting out some awesome books right now with original storylines and characters.

Because hopeless optimism is always the right answer and it's not like Marvel hasn't done this before like in the last 7 years :D

Think you're confusing hopeless optimism with 'reserving judgement', i.e. not swinging to extremes of hating or loving an event until there's actually some information to go on beyond three pictures and a sentence.

Being an Avenger shouldn't be an all the time thing for the heroes. Most of them don't get enough single adventure time. And so villains are usually not used or wasted on big events as fodder for something more catastrophic.

They know readers are going to keep looking forward to the next 'big stupid event' because it sells, and if they keep up the repetition of selling their books this way, current readers are not going to know any difference and have no reason to do otherwise any longer. You could ask for this to change, but not enough people will care to go along with that.

I think we are going to be stuck with the big event trend every month for a long time. But I think it's also going to hurt Marvel in the end because they will have burned themselves out with it all. Then they'll use what left of their money to make more movies and put better quality into them than the comics themselves.

Marvel will become simply sloganed, an 'entertainment business'. The actual applied art and literature of the book will seem stilted in the future if it hasn't already.

Perhaps? Perhaps not?

Let's just hope it's not another event and not another superhero fight. Enough already. Anyway, "This is war" is a stupid tagline.

Seriously people piss off the event hasn't even started and you already condemn it? jeez. If you want to read individual story there's Plenty PLENTY of books that have there own story arc & are not attached to a big event in Marvel. Wait whats that? I like Marvel so I'm immediately wrong and deserve to burn in hell? Yeah I thought so.

I really hope this is some kind of battle against an actual enemy, and not heroes v heroes. One is my favorite kind of team up, and the other is the worst plot device in superhero comics.

The last event I picked up was a DC one, Blackest Night. Marvel have just lost the plot with events already. Speaking of DC events, have you heard about DC's Trinity War that's coming out in 2013? What do you think about that?

Again, five pages worth of comments about people bitching about "events", yet you will ALL storm the comic book stores and purchase this... giving more incentive to these companies to continue pushing out events since they are the highest selling books during the time they normally occupy the market. Your fingers and mouths can do all the whining, but your wallet behaves differently... they don't care what you say, they care what you buy.

Somehow, a Captain America shield splattered with blood and dirt just doesn't sit well with me when combined with the words "Captain America Declares War". If it was related to say... a "Death of Captain America" storyline, I think the resulting imagery would work a little better (although that's already been done, so not really an option).

Maybe Marvel should sit down and read some comments... and stop the junk crossovers
