kill Hope while she's sleeping instead of calling the Avengers to the moon? He wants her dead the moment he sees her, yet he knows that the Avengers have no intention to kill Hope. It just doesn't make sense to me.

I lost interest in this pathetic excuse for an event before the first issue came out.

Well, that's not a good way to make money.

I think the event needs to finish, I don't hate this event like everyone else. Judge it then. Yeah it's pretty obvious it's a cash grab, but I think it's fun.

I know. That's why they should have avoided having Wolverine meeting with Hope or even have just have someone else besides Wolverine meeting with her. This is inexcusable considering they have a bunch of writers working on the issue for it to have such a big plot hole.

Phoenix or not, I don't think he would kill a young woman while she's defenseless. Wouldn't the Phoenix Force just bring her back?

She's not Phoenix at the moment. She can feel its power, but the bird hasn't entered the host yet. Wolverine has killed or wanted to kill innocent people before, remember the Schism event? Hope is not exactly innocent, she wants to become Phoenix, so he has every reason to kill her, due to the obligations he feels toward Jean Grey and his desire to protect the kids at the school.

@Redberry: I still think the Phoenix Force would bring her back.

Based on what? At the moment, Hope and Phoenix are still 2 separate beings. Thor and the others are still getting curbstomped by the bird in space.
