    it is set in the main universe...present day...right when it happened...it's not set in the future or the past...it is set in the present day Marvel 616 Universe

    @tazzmission: I don't think it's as bad as a lot of people say. I read the main series and about half of the tie-ins, and overall I liked it.

    This except for the tie-ins, I didn't know there where any.

    guh see thats what i hate about events. a 6 issue series turns out with like 75 spin offs. i mean jeez i remember blackest night had around 75 and luckly i skipped all those tie ins

    There were 8 tie-in issues, 5 of which I read. I don't think they're essential to read, but they add a little extra if you want to see how certain characters were affected by the story.

    @majinpaul: Didn't read it myself, but I think it's a divergent universe like Days of Future Past, Age of Apocalypse or House of M if you've ever read them.

    It affected the 616 too with Angela in Guardians of the Galaxy for example and Galactus in the Ultimate universe, so it's not a "pointless" event if you get my drift.
