Hi, I'm planning on buying the Age of ultron tpb but I'm wondering, is it set in the main universe?

Not quite. It's like a future of the main universe.

is it as bad as people say it is? i heard alot of bad things

it is set in the main universe...present day...right when it happened...it's not set in the future or the past...it is set in the present day Marvel 616 Universe

@tazzmission: I don't think it's as bad as a lot of people say. I read the main series and about half of the tie-ins, and overall I liked it.

This except for the tie-ins, I didn't know there where any.

guh see thats what i hate about events. a 6 issue series turns out with like 75 spin offs. i mean jeez i remember blackest night had around 75 and luckly i skipped all those tie ins

@tazzmission: I actually liked the most of the tie-ins to BN, surprisingly.

There were 8 tie-in issues, 5 of which I read. I don't think they're essential to read, but they add a little extra if you want to see how certain characters were affected by the story.

@majinpaul: Didn't read it myself, but I think it's a divergent universe like Days of Future Past, Age of Apocalypse or House of M if you've ever read them.

It affected the 616 too with Angela in Guardians of the Galaxy for example and Galactus in the Ultimate universe, so it's not a "pointless" event if you get my drift.

lets just put it this way Issue 1 Dont know wtf is going on...issue 2 continue from issue 1 and so on...confusing writing!!
