I was playing it last night

and if nothing else, there are endless possibilities in making your teams, setting up your groupd attacks, chain hypers, all of it

which can keep you playing for A LONG time

    it's a ton of fun

and quite a bit different than its predecessor

What's the point of going back to Marvel vs. Capcom 2 now?

    Still being played.

    @fesak

:all could be agreed upon, except glitches depending on the port of it, and the 8 or 9 new character sprites? um, no. Son Son, Tronne,Amingo and Ruby Heart just for starters where new characters as of that game, and had there own full character sprite animations, thatsa lot more than 9 sprites friend. the clone issue is big on that game though, well beyond Wolverine even. But despite issues, MVC2 has beenrepublished for nearly every single system capable of housing it since it first appeared in 2000 until now, thats a statement of fact and credibility to quality. MK and SF suffered from everything you mentioned from the day they came out of the gate for that matter, so the issues are sort of unimportantand most just staples and to be expecteds of the genre itself. "
This is directed @ fesak, but don't want click back to the 1st page to quote him.

MVC2 is a very serious game to the fighter Marvel community. Here is a MVC2 money match video. $24,000

    $100 for perfect

      $10,000 money match

    yeah, people still play it

and it's still a super fun game

    but did you see that?

    those never ending combos?

and the broken characters that mercilessly RAPE anyone who isn't a broken character?

I got my fill of being beaten to death by Strom/Sentinel/Cable a long time ago

I'm glad there's a new game to play that isn't quite as dated and broken

@Cypher's Gambit: I'm aware. I just don't see the point of playing it now, unless you're one of those tournament-level players. I haven't played MVC2 since MVC3 came out.

" Why does people hold MvC2 in such high regard? It's actually not very good.
It's the most unbalanced fighting game in existance. They even admitted to not even trying to balance the roster.
It's a lazy copy-paste game where they only made 8 or 9 new character sprites.
Old sprites really look ugly next to the newer ones.
Too many clones, a large chunk of the cast are really obsolete.
Many old characters are missing moves and has less animation than in previous games, especially the CotA returners.
    Over 9000 bugs/glitches
     Horribly unbalanced.
People talk about many characters/diversity, yet only about ten characters are ever used.
    Awful music
3D rendered stages doesn't fit with sprites.
Instead of Classic Capcom characters like Arthur or Haggar we get Amingo and Ruby Heart?
Instead of a badass final boss we get that? Derp.
    Endings? No way.
And most stupidly; people actually complains that X-23 and Wolverine are both in MvC3, even though they play nothing alike, but seem to forget there were two Wolverines in MvC2. "

And this is partially why MvC3 is better, thank you.

I'd also like to bring up how much goes into each character (except the Sentinel, but I hate him); You've got characters interacting this time around, and that alone was good enough for me.

Oh I have three, but there is a problem if you go to shoryuken.com
The community frowns down online battles because the lag kills the players true skill. Most of the Marvel Fighter community are arcade fighters and rather compete either on console or arcade. If there are money matches on MVC3, then it will surely be done at someone else's place or an arcade.

MVC2 may have its bugs, but so does MVC3.

Ever noticed how Sentinel can over head you all the time?
Ever wonder how he is able to shoot 2 lasers a split of a second?
Ever wonder how Phoenix is the mot broken character in that game?
Ever wonder how you can't kill or snap away Hesin Ko when she is glitched as an assist?
You recall the MVC2 Gambit glitch trick in relations to Zeros glitch trick?
Ever wonder why Tron's little fire assist seems like reaches further?
Ever wonder how Magneto can over head you and trap you into the corner so fast?
MODOK Psyblast is thicker than it looks?
    Wonder how broken X-Factor is?

There are some more but player's haven't encounter them yet. When MVC2 1st dubbed, no body noticed the 9,000 glitches until after 5-10 years of playing the game. Sentinel used to be the SLOWEST character in the game. That in until 2003 when they discovered Unfly mode. Tron Bone used to be a low tier charctter, but in 2009 she was rebooted to be a 2nd to top tier because of her Rings and her conner traps and her throw takes more priority than others. Cable used to be a 2rd tier until 2001 when they discovered "Air Hyper Viper Beam x".

    MvC2 is superior heres why

    1. 2 has a better roster

    2. capcom got greedy and decided to screw fans over with 3 by releasing an incomplete game and making different modes, alternate costumes, and decent characters all dlc that costs more money

    3. 2 stood the test of time, 3 fizzled away pretty fast

    4. 3's marvel women are all x-men or female rip offs of male characters.

    5. 2 DIDNT HAVE MODOK!!!!

Man, I used to play the game online... for a few weeks, before I stopped playing it. Everyone knows infinites and stuff. With that all said and done, the game got pretty monotonous.

This is why I prefer traditional fighting games over MVC. I'm more of a Street Fighter/King of Fighters kinda guy, with a little bit of Tekken and Virtua Fighter in there.

I agree with you on that

    I enjoy SSF4 more than MvC3, but I wouldn't say it's "better'

    they're such different games

I just have a hard time finding friends to play it with me offline

apparenly, my Cammy and M. Bison skills scare them away ;)

LOL, same here, that's why I don't really mind. I've been playing MVC2 since 2001, I think, but the game actually came out in 1999. If there was a track record like in MVC3, I would have played that game 1,000,000 times. My track record for Marvel vs Capcom 3 is played at over 2,000 times already.

I like UMVC3 but what I miss from MVC2 is:

    1. BB Hood because she's so unique and awesome as a character.

    2. Storm's typhoon is infinitely taller and faster. I really hope Capcom would give a faster- start-up for Storm's typhoon

    3. Rogue cos UMVC3 could have been the only game which you can play the X-Female Trinity: Storm/Phoenix/Rogue

    4. I miss Juggernaut

If only Capcom could add this to UMVC3.

    1. Add 12 more characters: Squirrel Girl, Apocalypse, Rogue, Gambit, Juggernaut and Psylocke for Marvel side and Mega Man X, Gene from God Hand, BB Hood, Jedah, Date Masamune and Ingrid (from street fighter) for Capcom.

    2. 10 more new stages

    3. the game will count the number of times you have used the characters even in vs mode.

    4. Put back all what was nerfed including putting Sentinel's health.

    5. Storm's typhoon make it faster, taller & homing as well as homing elemental rage. Morrigan's missiles hyper should be changed to laser cannon
