Plot Summary
Ben and his nephew Franklin are in a video arcade playing games, and Franklin is just whupping Ben every which way. Heading back to the Baxter Building, the two meet up with a scientist who's invented a video game and has come to see Reed about it. Ben, hoping for some pointers on how to keep up with Franklin, invites him up.
The game, Space Saver, is pretty obviously a PacMan rip-off, but when Ben sets it up and starts playing, the three of them are suddenly teleported to the planet K'rith. It turns out that the planet is under attack by some Gobblers from the planet Gh'runji. The K'rithians had intercepted the computer code from the game, thought it was real, and decided to transport the hero, Space Saver, to save them. Instead, they got Ben, Franklin, and the scientist, who have to save the day...

Okay, the cover pretty much dates this to its time in history but that's part of the charm. Ben Grimm, presumably caught up in a game at the video arcade, concentrating hard but still looking gormless. Kudos to the artist, Ed Hannigan, for being able to bring out such expressiveness onto the Thing's rock hard face. I like it cos it's fun!
I have ranked this cover no 185 as part of a long term project I am producing on my own blog 'marvel-ous' on blogspot.com re: my favourite marvel comic book covers. Please visit http://dmstarz.blogspot.com and check out the other covers that have made my top 250.
