Storm the editors!
Synopsis
Another great issue by Super Hero Squad! These issues are definitely for all-ages but who says adults can't enjoy them? Each of these issues have three separate stories in them. Sometimes they're intertwined into a larger plot and sometimes they're not. This is one of those times when they're tied together--It's these I enjoy most. The best part was that they were obviously throwing some inside editor/publisher vs. creator jokes in that last story.
The Good
Great story! The last two stories tied into each other. Story #2, was heroes vs villains in a volleyball game for 4th of July. The heroes greatly beat the villains in the game but they all were good sports. Then finally in the last story of the issue, Abomination and MODOK went to "Marbel Comics" to threaten the editor to remove the previous story (the volleyball game) because they're tired of being portrayed as the "losers and dopes" in every issue. I never saw that one coming!
The Bad
The only drawback here is their use of 'C' and 'D'-list villians (i.e Whirlwind, Melter, Wrecker, Trapster, etc). I guess it's good that they're introducing characters but if this is a kids book, I doubt they'd be able to point them out in a crowd.
Verdict (4.5/5)
Great issue, this continues to impress. Other than the small drawback of unpopular villains this would have gotten a perfect score. Therefore I'll knock off a half point for the C and D-listers earning this one a 4.5/5.
