    The Marvel Apes have their origin on the Newsarama message board. A fan made a funny comment about the Marvel Zombies series, saying something like: "What is next, Marvel Apes?".

    The Marvel Bullpen picked this up and tried to find the fan in order to give him thanks for the idea and pay possible homage to him. The fan was however never found, but Marvel did publish the mini-series however.
