    Origin

    Nothing is known about Martin Shay. A novelist, he moved to New York in the early 1970s in an effort to write the next great American novel. He moved into a house that was also a Thin Place, where the barrier between the mundane and the extraordinary is thin.

    Creation

    Martin Shay was created by James Tynion IV, Ming Doyle, and Riley Rossmo. He made his first appearance in Constantine: The Hellblazer #2.

    Major Story Arcs

    The Hellblazer

    Martin drops out of contact with friends and families for three weeks, and when he emerges it is with 3,000 pages of a novel that he doesn't remember writing, written in a language never before documented, illustrated despite the fact that he has no skill in art. When he attempts to share the novel with friends, he and those he shares it with are driven violently insane. His fate is unknown, he is presumed dead.
