Origin

Like the other Children of the Vault, Martillo (Spanish for "hammer') was neither a Homo superior (mutant) nor Homo sapiens sapiens (regular human being) but the member of a completely different human species that has evolved biologically, culturally, and technologically over the course of six thousand years. His people's advanced technology allowed him to have superhuman abilities in the form of a special suit he wore; once the battery ran out, however, he'd be powerless.

He was a part of the Children of the Vault strike force tasked with apprehending Luz sent by Corregidora. During the battle once the X-Men were defeated he actually advocated mercy when Cadena asked for his hammer so she might execute Rogue, however her wish to avenge Sangre led her to politely dismiss his plea. Later on, although he was skilled at using his giant hammer weapon, it proved a vulnerability when the in the presence of the mutant Magneto, who used his power over metal to use Martillo's own weapon against him and other Children of the Vault.
