    Aikido - "the Way of unifying with life energy" Aikido is a defensive martial art that uses the attackers momentum to redirect attacks and counter moves. Aikido practitioners require little actual physical strength due to this.

    Aikijutsu - previously called Daitō-ryū Jujutsu, is a Japanese martial art that first became widely known in the early 20th century under the head mastership of Takeda Sokaku. It is a defensive style that specializes in counters and grabs, anticipating an opponent's attack and countering after disabling it. Some of the art's striking methods employ the swinging of the outstretched arms to create power and to hit with the fists at deceptive angles.

    Archery - The art of propelling arrows with a bow. Archery has been practiced by various cultures throughout history.

    Ba Gua - The practice of circle walking, or "turning the circle", as it is sometimes called, is Baguazhang's characteristic method of stance and movement training. All forms of Baguazhang utilize circle walking prevalently as an integral part of training. Practitioners walk around the edge of the circle in various low stances, facing the center, and periodically change direction as they execute forms.

    Ba Shan Fan - A basic key to the style is to rotate, being able to turnover an opponent's offense or defense or displace it completely with an attack. Ba Shan Fan is filled with solid and rapid movements with explosive energy, and these movements are done in a single breath which, gives opponents the feeling that they are defenseless against it. But, this is not a chain of the same technique but, rather a chain of many angled full power attacks and defensive and attack based methods.

    Baji Quan - Literally translated as the Eight Extemties Fist, Baji Quan is used to forcibly open one's opponent's arms and attack at high, mid, and lower parts of their body. Best used in close quarters because of its focus on elbow, knee, shoulder, and hip strikes. When blocking or moving towards the enemy, Baji Quan major points of vulnerability on the enemy's body.

    Bartitsu - An eclectic martial art and self defense style that was founded in England in the late 1800's.

    Bojutsu - The art of the staff, Bojutsu teaches users thrusting, swinging, and sweeping techniques with a staff and is often thought of as one of the few non-lethal weapon styles.

    Boxing - A competitive sport style of fighting where boxers fight with gloved hands. Boxers are only allowed to strike with their fists during a match.

    Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu - Formed from traditional Japanese Jiu-Jitsu and Judo practices, the art was refined in Brazil to involve a more ground based fighting style meant to give smaller weaker fighters a chance against bigger adversaries.

    Bullfighting - A traditional spectacle in Spain where a matador uses a cape and sword to kill a raging bull in the ring. While a sport/event bullfighting is the origin of some characters fighting prowess.

    Capoeira - a Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance, acrobatics, and music for a rhythmic fighting style. It is known by quick and complex moves, using mainly power, speed, and leverage for leg sweeps. Capoeira is a fast and versatile martial art which is historically focused on fighting outnumbered or in technological disadvantage.

    Chou Jaio - A Chinese martial art that features strong yet comfortable moves, and its blows are quick and accurate. Hands and feet cooperate well in order to create an advantage and longer reach, and its strikes are short yet lethal.

    Choy Lay Fut - A hybrid martial art that combines both Northern and Southern styles of Chinese Kung Fu. Choy Lay Fut is also an effective defensive style particularly when dealing with more than one attacker. Of course it does have its own uniqueness such as, twisting the upper torso to gain more power for hand and arm techniques. Another one calls for the practitioner to tilt their body at an angle towards the opponent in order to reduce the target area exposed to him, and gives the practitioner far better reach.

    Chuk Kuk Do - An American hybrid martial art developed by Chuck Norris.

    Close Quarters Combat - Often abbreviated CQC, CQC Involves battle techniques typically taught to military and police units and involves techniques for small units to clear rooms of enemy combatants.

    Crane Kung Fu - One of the classic five forms of Animal Kung Fu, the Crane imitates the pecking and flapping motions of the bird into a martial art. The flying crane style however has a greater amount of long range techniques although it too does prefer close quarters hand oriented combat, which simulates the flapping of the wings. Some white crane styles also use a great variety of traditional weapons whereas others have discontinued practice with ancient weaponry.

    Dragon Kung Fu - Traditional Chinese martial arts that mimics the movement of the mythical Chinese Dragon, Dragon Kung Fu is characterized by a zig zag like motion of the feet to mimic the dragons movements while striking fast and hard. The form also contains a lot of grapples and grips and focuses on quick short range attacks.

    Eagle Claw - A Chinese martial art based on joint locks, takedowns, and pressure point strikes. The art was passed down the Ming Dynasty.

    Eskrima - A Philippine martial art usually involving fighting with sticks or bladed weapons. The art also includes techniques for disarming opponents.

    Fan Zi - Known as rotating fist, Fan Zi is an ancient form of Chinese martial arts that gave way to more modern styles like Eagle Claw. The style emphasizes around offense and defense in the hands, and movements.

    Fencing - A competitive Olympic sport where competitors fight with fencing foils and the idea is to score points through hits. Often considered a modern swordsman style.

    Fu Jow Pai - originally named "Hark Fu Moon" (Black Tiger Kung Fu System), has its origins in Hoy Hong Temple. The system was modeled after the demeanor and fighting strategy of an attacking tiger. The striking movements are lightning fast, agile and powerful. Techniques unique to Fu-Jow Pai are ripping, tearing, clawing and grasping applications.

    Goju Ryu Karate - A martial art with 12 katas based around it. Each kata is set for a different situation. The 12 katas are Kihongata, Gekisai, Saifa, Sanchin, Tensho, Seiunchin, 'Shisōchin, Sanseirū, Seipai, Kururunfā, Seisan, and Supārinpei.

    Greco-Roman Wrestling - An Olympic style of wrestling based on ancient Greece and Roman styles.

    Hapkido - An eclectic Korean martial art taught as a form of self defense that employs a variety of joint locks and strikes. The art also teaches the use of nunchaku, sword, rope, and bo staff techniques.

    Hung Gar - A southern Chinese martial art associated with the Chinese folk hero Wong Fei Hung. The hallmarks of the Wong Fei-Hung lineage of Hung Gar are deep low stances.

    Jeet Kune Do - A hybrid style and way of life originally founded by legendary martial artist and movie star Bruce Lee. Jeet Kune Do users believe in minimum movement with maximum effect and speed for overall power.

    Judo - A common grappling martial art and Olympic sport with emphasis on gaining a choke hold or joint lock to force an opponent into submission.

    Jūjutsu - A Japanese martial art and a method of close combat for defeating an armed and armored opponent in which one uses no weapon or only a short weapon.

    Kampfringen - A German based grappling martial art that has an emphasis on punches, joint locks, choke holds, and headbutts.

    Karate - A very common striking based martial art derived from Chinese kenpo and the native Ryukyu Island martial arts in what is now Okinawa, Japan.

    Kenpo - An umbrella term for some Japanese martial arts. Kenpo is often derived from Chinese martial arts.

    Kenjutsu - The umbrella term for Japanese swordsmanship used by Samurai. Kenjutsu means "the method, or technique, of the sword." This is opposed to kendo, which means "the way of the sword".

    Krav Maga - An Israeli based martial art developed for the military. Krav Maga uses techniques developed from Muy Thai, Wing Chun, Ju Jitsu, wrestling, and boxing along with emphasis on no quarter and realistic fighting. Moves are often about taking out an opponent as quickly as possible.

    Leopard Kung Fu - One of the five animal forms of Kung Fu, Leopard is quite different from the overly aggressive tiger style in that it focuses on overwhelming speed and out thinking opponents. A staple of the style is to block and attack simultaneously.

    Lucha Libre - A term for Mexican professional wrestling. Luchadores typically wear masks and matches often have the loser removing his mask in shame. Lucha Libre typically involves more rapid sequences of holds and counters and high flying maneuvers.

    Marine Corps Martial Arts Program - A hybrid military martial art developed for the US Marine Corps. Mixed with unarmed techniques, edged fighting staff fighting, and bayonet training.

    Mi Zong- A northern Chinese martial art that relies on deception and mobility rather than power. Mi Zong is characterized by deceptive hand movements, intricate footwork, varied kicks, and high leaps. An increased emphasis on mobility often comes at the price of power, but Mi Zong compensates for this by providing a means for the dynamic generation of power: a combination of the internal corkscrew power.

    Mian Chuan - A defensive style of Chinese Kung Fu that emphasizes defense. The theory for this style is that defense becomes offense and softness turns to hardness, and the practitioner's attacks always follow after the opponent's. Soft attacks gain the upper hand for a practitioner and sets up the opponent for a harder, more dominant array of movements. Mian Chuan does not require advanced movements such as grappling, using only punches and kicks, but does demand balanced posture, a mostly relaxed body, and a short attack range. There is no definite record of the creator or origin of the style.

    Mixed Martial Arts - MMA is a full contact combat sport that allows the use of both striking and grappling techniques, both standing and on the ground, from a variety of other combat sports. n a sense, all martial arts styles and therefore martial arts history in general has led up to what we now refer to as MMA.

    Mizongyi - A style of Chinese martial art based on deception and mobility, and there are many sub-branches of this style. Mizongyi is an external style, with distinct internal influences. It draws on many aspects of the external northern Shaolin long-fist style, and the internal styles like Tai Chi Quan.

    Monkey Kung Fu - A readily seen form of Kung Fu where the user imitates the movemnts of a monkey. The style is shown to have very fast and complex footwork as well as training in various Chinese weapons as well as when to use these weapons. Monkey forms are not normally performed fast paced from start to finish as in other techniques, instead the practitioner will execute a very swift series of movements then stop to 'play' which can confuse opponents.

    Muy Boran - An umbrella term for unarmed mixed martial arts in Thailand. The term translates as ancient boxing and has many ancient techniques that would be refined into Muy Thai. The stance is usually lower and wider than Muy Thai like more traditional Chinese boxing or Indian martial arts.

    Muay Thai - A competitive martial art developed in Thailand, This art is very different from typical sport martial arts since it employs elbow and knee strikes.

    Naiginatajutsu - The Japanese art of wielding the Naginata, the samurai version of a European glaive. Naginata were traditionally used by wives of Samurai since they were not allowed to use katana though samurai often had some instruction.

    Ninjutsu - The Japanese art of stealth, secrecy, sabotage, and assassination. Ninjas are very common in comics, film, video games, and TV.

    Northern Praying Mantis Kung Fu - The northern version of Mantis King Fu,the fighting style involves the use of whip-like/circular motions to deflect direct attacks, which it follows up with precise attacks to the opponent's vital spots. Northern Praying Mantis is especially known for its speed and continuous attacks. Wrist/arm techniques in particular are emphasized, as well as knee and elbow strikes.

    Pankration - An ancient martial art introduced into the Greek Olympic Games in 648 BC and founded as a blend of boxing and wrestling but with scarcely any rules. The only things not acceptable were biting and gouging of the opponent's eyes.The art is said to have been invented by Hercules and Theseus.

    Pencak Silat - An umbrella term for Indonesian martial arts that includes unarmed and armed forms of combat. One of the common weapons of the style is a Kris, a asymmetrical dagger.

    Pi Gua Quan - also known as Piguazhang "chop-hanging palm" due to its emphasis on palm techniques, is often practiced along with Baji Quan "Eight Exteties Fist. As the name suggests, Pi Gua Quan is the circular motion of the hand, much like a windmill. A fist is seldom used; instead, much of the offensive comes from the hands relaxed with fingers extended, being used in a manner resembling a whip. The moves are smooth and flexible, yet the offenses are sharp and heavy, that demand a great degree of flexibility from the practitioner.

    Professional Wrestling - Based on traditional wrestling techniques mixed with bludgeoning weapon use and extra showmanship. Often called fake and rigged in real life, wrestlers in comics and video games are often super powered.

    Sambo - A Russian martial art with ties to Jujitsu and Judo. Sambo is often used by the Russian Spetnaz and Russian mafia. The art has an emphasis on open handed attacks, counters, joint locks, and leg locks.

    San Shou - A Chinese self defense free fighting are that is called unsanctioned fighting. San Shou is a hand-to-hand fighting style used for defense, as wells as for sport. It combines elements of normal martial arts and Judo.

    Savate - A French martial art combining boxing and graceful kicking techniques. Unlike Muy Thai Savate only uses the feet instead of the shins or knees. "Savate" is a French word for "old shoe". Savate is perhaps the only style of kickboxing in which the fighters habitually wear shoes. A male practitioner of savate is called a savateur while a female is called a savateuse.

    Shaolin Kung-Fu - An external Chinese martial art that is associated with the Shaolin Monastery. In many ways, the contemporary performing warrior monks are comparable to contemporary wushu artists who focus on beautiful, elaborately dazzling form rather than original martial application and fighting prowess.

    Shooto/Japanese Mixed Martial Arts - Described as new martial art, Shooto is akin to Japanese professional wrestling.

    Shorin-Ryu Karate - One of the oldest forms of karate Shorin Ryu is generally characterized by natural breathing, natural (narrow, high) stances, and direct, rather than circular movements. Shōrin-ryū practitioners will say that correct motion matters, being able to move quickly to evade violence by having fluid movements and flexible positions is quite important, and that a solid structure is very important for powerful moves. Stances that are too deep will most likely make body movement very difficult.

    Shotokan - Shotokan is often regarded as a 'hard' and 'external' martial art because it is taught that way to beginners and colored belts to develop strong basic techniques and stances. Initially strength and power are demonstrated instead of slower, more flowing motions. Those who progress to brown and black belt level develop a much more fluid style which incorporates grappling and some aikido-like techniques.

    Snake Kung Fu - Also known She Quan or Snake Fist, the art is a mid-to-low range fighting style which is used in a downward open semi-closed palm jabbing movement or a poke. It is moderately fast and reasonably hard to counter. It is a reasonably long-ranged fighting style and is often used before other opponents can reach the target.

    Southern Mantis Kung Fu - Southern Praying Mantis places a heavy emphasis on close-range fighting. This system is known for its short power methods, and has aspects of both internal and external techniques. In application, the emphasis is on hand and arm techniques, and a limited use of low kicks.

    Street Fighting - Not so much a style, street fighting is the lack of one, but the capability to still fight. Street fighters usually have little formal training and have honed their ability fighting on the streets illegally. Since their are no rules in a street fight weapons may be used and can be classic or improvised weapons, as well as dirty fighting techniques like eye gouging, eye poking, groin hits, temple hits, throat locks, and other potentially fatal moves.

    Sumo Wrestling - An ancient form of wrestling used for competitive matches where one wrestler tries to force another outside the ring.

    Taekwondo - A Korean martial art that translates to "to strike or break with foot". Taekwondo involves foot strikes, kicks, flips, pressure points, and sweeps for a fluid martial art. At one time it was the most popular art in the world.

    Tai Chi Ch'uan - An internal Chinese martial art that focuses on balance. It is defensive based and often practiced for health benefits. The martial art has spread worldwide.

    Tai Tzu - A hard style of Chinese martial arts that is translated as Emperor's Long Fist.

    Tang Soo Do - A Korean martial art that is derived from traditional Chinese arts. The Tang stands for the Tang Dynasty. The are has many similarities to Chinese Kung Fu and Shotokan karate.

    Xing Yi Quan - one of the major "internal" Chinese martial arts, characterized by aggressive, seemingly linear movements and explosive power. There is no single organizational body governing the teaching of the art, and several variant styles exist.

    Xinyi Liuhe Quan - also known as Shini-Rokugo-Ken It is considered one of the most powerful and fighting-oriented styles of Chinese martial arts, and for a long time it has been known for its effectiveness in fighting, while very few actually knew the practice methods of the style. Xinyi Liuhe Quan's practice methods are not numerous compared to other styles, and include ten big shapes. The style favors close-range tactics, such as shoulder strikes.

    Yue Chuan - A style of Chinese Kung Fu taught by a martial arts general during the Song Dynasty. The style was taught to the generals soldiers who taught the style after his death. The style is military oriented and combines external and internal martial arts philosophies.

    Zha Chuan - A popular style of northern Chinese Kung Fu that originated in the Tang Dynasty. The style was originally taught by Chinese general who was wounded behind enemy lines. The general taught the style to the peasants who healed him behind enemy lines.

    Zi Ran Men- A northern style of Chinese Kung Fu known as natural boxing, Zi Ran Men teaches to avoid an attack and attack when your opponent has spent the force of his own attack, in essence counterattack after your opponent as launched and missed an attack of his own.

    Zui Quan - Commonly refereed to Drunken Fist, is a Chines martial art based around unpredictable movement. The postures are created by momentum and weight of the body, and imitation is generally through staggering and certain type of fluidity in the movements.     Ansatsuken - is a Japanese language neologism use to describe any martial art developed with the intention of murdering an opponent and does not refer to a particular fighting style. In the Street Fighter universe, the term has been used to describe the martial arts used by Akuma and Gouken.

    Bushin-ryu Ninjitsu -

    Chinese Amazon Martial Arts - The Chinese Amazons have developed and incorporated countless martial arts techniques and training methods over the centuries of their existence. While many doubtlessly remain secret, a considerable number of these techniques are revealed over the course of the anime and manga. While no specific "Joketsuzoku style" seems to be in evidence, except perhaps that used by Shampoo and Cologne, they evidently incorporate other fighting styles into their arsenal.

    Crane School - A school founded by the Crane Hermit who's teachings are derived from his Master Muitato. Crane Hermit seems to have added many assassin style moves to the teachings in order to make his students deadly effective. The most famous attack of the school is the dodon ray, a finger based ki attack that is fired quicker and faster than the Kamehameha wave of the rival turtle school.

    Echani Martial Arts - A martial art developed by the Echani people, tradition dictated that combatants (usually) made no use of armor, weapons or Force powers. Echani culture held the belief that combat was the only means to truly know someone, a pure form of expression where words were swept away, allowing for action to reveal the true nature of the people involved. Their duels were rituals, and it was important to follow etiquette. The echani art had three tiers, each relying on foundations, and featuring higher forms than the previous one. Echani children began by learning the foundations, progressing over time from one tier to the next as the instructor saw fit.

    Form I: Shii-Cho - Known as The Way of the Sarlacc or The Determination Form, was the first of the seven forms of This combat form was developed during the transitional period within the Jedi Order from ancient metal swords to more contemporary lightsabers. Shii-Cho was intended to cater to these new weapons, establishing the basic motions and target zones utilized with a lightsaber. As Shii-Cho was effectively an experimental combat form, and was created prior to the emergeance of Dark Jedi and Sith Lords, it did not address the issue of lightsaber-to-lightsaber combat.

    Form II: Makashi - Known as The Way of the Ysalamiri, or The Contention Form, was the second of the seven classic forms of lightsaber combat. Developed for the purpose of lightsaber-to-lightsaber combat, to address the failings of Form I: Shii-Cho, Makashi was the most dueling-centric of the seven classical forms. Relying on precision and efficiency over Shii-Cho's wild, sweeping motions.

    Form III: Soresu - Known as the Way of the Mynock, or The Resilience Form, was the third of the seven classic forms of Lightsaber combat that was recognized by the Jedi Council prior to and during the Clone Wars. Soresu was developed during the widespread emergence of blasters as an offensive weapon. Essentially a development on Form I Blast defect training, Soresu relied on tight bladework and subtle dodges to provide maximum defensive coverage, minimizing exposure to ranged weaponry. Over time, Soresu transcended this basic origin, and came to be considered the ultimate expression of non-aggressive Jedi philosophy.

    Form IV: Ataru - Known as the Way of the Hawk-Bat, or The Aggression Form, was the fourth of the seven forms of lightsaber combat. An aggressive style, Form IV was fast-paced and effective against single opponents, though weaker in prolonged combat and confined spaces. Also, it was not recommended for use against opponents wielding blasters. Ataru was characterized by Force-assisted acrobatics, such as somersaults and leaping strikes, both for attack and defense. Another characteristic of the form was its fast, powerful strikes from multiple directions.

    Form V: Shien/Djem So - known as The Way of the Krayt Dragon, or The Perseverance Form, was the fifth of seven forms recognized as canon by the last Jedi Council for lightsaber combat. Shien, considered the classical Form V, was more adept at blocking blaster bolts, whereas Djem So was developed later and intended for lightsaber combat. Both Shien and Djem So were designed to use an opponent's attack against them, as evidenced by Shien's focus on returning blaster bolts to their origin and Djem So's emphasis on immediately striking back after a blow. Although some Jedi felt that Form V encouraged aggression and domination, that sentiment did not stop many Jedi from practicing the form.

    Form VI: Niman - Known as The Way of the Rancor, The Moderation Form, and the diplomat's form, was the sixth form of the seven forms of lightsaber combat. This fighting style was a hybrid martial art created by effectively combining elements of all the preceding lightsaber forms into a single, generalized form. Niman balanced out between the various specializations of the other forms, covering many of the basic moves, but focusing on overall moderation. This resulted in a fighting style that lacked a significant advantage, but also lacking any serious drawbacks, and thereby not leaving adherents as exposed as some of the more aggressive or specialized forms.

    Form VII: Juyo/Vaapad - known as The Way of the Vornskr, or The Ferocity Form, was the seventh of seven forms recognized as canon for lightsaber combat by the last Jedi Council. In use millennia prior to the Battle of Yavin, the Juyo incarnation of Form VII was described as the most vicious form of lightsaber combat and was said to involve significant internal focus on the part of the user. the Vaapad form was explained as being a state of mind rather than just a fighting style, allowing the wielder to channel his own inner darkness into the duel, and accept the fury of the opponent.

    Gand Findsmen Martial Arts - The Gand Findsmen utilized a style of martial arts, of which the tenets were not readily understood by the Galactic Republic. A few of the moves were translated and described, however; Piercing Touch and Striking Mist. The former, Piercing Touch, was described as a powerful punch that was able to penetrate armor, chitin, and bone. The other move, Striking Mist, allowed the attacking Gand to sneak in close to their opponent, so that the hits could not be parried or dodged.

    Gun-Fu - A term used to describe acrobatic gun play mixed with traditional martial arts, Gun-Fu is a martial arts based around using a gun the same way kenjutsu is based around how to use a sword. practitioners of Gun-Fu can typically dual wield guns, shoot while jumping/flipping, reloading in ridiculous ways, aiming very quickly/precisely, and being competent with many types of guns.

    Hakke Sho - A fictional Chinese martial art that resembles Baji Quan, the art has various unique moves like the Phoenix, Hypnotist, Bayonet, and many other unique moves.

    Hakkyokuseiken - A martial art from the Fatal Fury series that is less about the martial art and more about the chi based attacks as the various practitioners incorporates different styles into the art. Tung Fu Rue uses traditional Chinese martial arts, Geese Howard uses traditional Japanese martial arts, while Terry Bogard has street fight techniques. The scrolls that have the art of Hakkyokuseiken recorded in them are apparently split in three different scrolls, the first part of the scroll contains the fighting techniques of Hakkyokuseiken, such as energy channeling and combat arts. Second scroll is to do with recuperation, which heals the fighter and also makes them physically stronger. The final scroll, when combined with the other two scolls, contains the secrets to immortality which are in possession of the Jin brothers.

    Hakuda - The unarmed combat style of the Soul Reapers Hakuda is taught to all students of the Shinigami Academy. The style combines various martial arts and high speed movement attacks to overwhelm the opponent. While all students and Soul Reapers are taught Hakuda the Onmitsukidō and 2nd Squad of the Gotei 13 are the most trained on its use.

    Hiten-Mitsurugi Style - Translated as "Flying Heaven Govern Sword-Style", Hiten-Mitsurugi is a sword style developed to allow a single samurai to defeat numerous foes single-handedly. Practitioners of this style use a combination of near-superhuman speed and agility often called god-like speed, battojutsu, and an acquired, observation-based pseudo-clairvoyance in order to avoid the attacks of their opponents by the least possible margin and with the least possible effort in order to place themselves in the perfect position to strike in the very instant the opponent's strike misses and stresses two-step attacks in order to ensure that any and all who oppose it are thoroughly slain.

    Kamiya Kasshin Style - Translated as "Gods' Valley Alive Heart Style", Kamiya Kasshin is a style based on a sword giving life instead of taking it. This style is defensive and often uses bokken and shinai instead of actual swords.

    Klurkor - A Kryptonian form of the martial arts that Lois Lane learned when she was in the Bottle City of Kandor.

    Kuatan - A fighting style named after the city of Kutan in Outworld which is home to the Shokan people. The art is the standard fighting style of the Shokan and emphasizes the use of the Shokan's four arms and great strength to over power opponents.

    Kusanagi style of ancient martial arts - The Kusanagi style of ancient martial arts is the main fighting style of the Kusanagi family. Originally, due to their family's treasure, it had kendo-like origins but it was adapted over the years to focus on utilizing the user's fists and resembles shorinryu karate and Chinese kung fu. The style is built to incorporate the Kusanagi clan's pyrokinesis. Due to its origins the users probably still have the ability to wield a sword effectively.

    Kyokugen Karate - Takuma Sakazaki, after fighting several opponents and reading their moves, eventually devised the style from his years of fighting. It allows the user to polish and refine their strengths into a perfect combative technique. While called "karate", it is actually a free-form mixed martial art. The style encourages the users to use their ki energy to extend throughout their body and precisely concentrate the force into their strikes, creating a powerful result with enough practice. Apparently the style is divided into to move sets styled after the tiger and dragon.

    Lightsaber Jar'Kai Style Fighting - Jar'Kai was originally a style of swordplay that utilized dual blades. Dual-blade fighters, whether classical Niman duelists or individuals applying the Jar'Kai tactic, were able to maintain a strong offense, as the speed of attack that two blades allowed would overwhelm most opponents. A typical maneuver was to continually attack with one blade while relying on the other for defensive coverage, ensuring that the duelist could keep up his guard even as he attacked. However, it was common that both blades be used for offensive purposes, keeping up a continuous wave-front assault.

    Martial Arts Rhythmic Gymnastics - Created as a more combative take on everyday sports and hobbies, the Martial Arts version of Rhythmic Gymnastics is intended more towards competitions and entertainment than serious battle. Being based on rhythmic gymnastics, this fighting style is very flamboyant and emphasizes agility and grace. It has a strong element of aerial combat and relies heavily on acrobatics; practitioners of the style seek to dodge and evade blows, all the while making their fight look good.

    Mishima Style Fighting Karate - Despite Mishima Style Fighting Karate being a fictional martial art, its influences do originate from real martial arts. Mishima Style Fighting Karate is heavily influenced by the Goju-ryu and Shorin-ryu styles of karate. The fighting style branched out more with each character gaining even more moves that were uniquely their own, effectively creating different variations of the same fighting style.

    Mok'bara - A Klingon martial art that teaches both hand to hand combat styles similar to tajiquan and Klingon weapon styles.

    Panda Kung Fu - The personal style of Po from the movie Kung Fu Panda, Po was quickly taught an effective Kung Fu style by his master Shifu that incorporates his large frame with many moves that involve bouncing, sitting, tackling, and rolling over opponents.

    Panther-Fang School - A school only seen in the anime version of Dragonball. The school is opposed to the Chin-Star School and lead by the martial artisits Sky Dragon and Rising Dragon. The school teaches fighters to deal with their opponents in tactical maneuvers, using their greater intelligence to outwit their opponents in fights.

    Panzer Kunst - German for armor art, Panzer Kunst is a cyborg exclusive fighting style. Panzer Kunst seeks oneness between the senses and is commonly referred to as the strongest of the cyborg martial arts. It is especially effective at disabling and destroying larger opponents. It is revealed in Last Order that Panzer Kunst is the basis of many space martial arts. Panzer Kunst seems to emphasize speed as well as the use of vibration-based attacks to cause damage to a foe's limbs or internal organs. The art is also quite effective against larger foes. The Panzer Kunst also provides a definite tactical advantage, since it gives its user the ability to analyze an opponent's fighting style and to retaliate accordingly.

    School of Anything Goes Martial Arts - A school started by Happosai and later split into the Saotome and Tendo schools by his apprentices Genma and Soun. The school teaches to mix any available martial arts and discarding what doesn't work to create versatile fighters. This causes students to be quite different from each other. The Tendo school is more ground based and can involve traditional Japanese weapons while the Saotome school is the more aerial style with more Chinese influences.

    Tenchi Mushin Ryuu - Literally "Earth, Heaven, and Nothingness true form", Tenchi Mushin Ryuu is an ancient fighting style that almost went extinct until it was recreated and restored by master Kai Midou. Like most ancient styles, the history and creation of this style is not known, but what is known is that Tenchi Mushin Ryuu is a very versatile martial art, as it was able to not only be recreated, but also changed to suit the users' individual fighting style.

    Teräs Käsi - "steel hands" in Galactic basic is a martial art taught throughout the galaxy. Teräs Käsi enabled a user to develop extreme speed, and an aptitude for anticipating strikes, most notably shown by Clone Assassins. In addition to this, Teräs Käsi taught non force sensitives how to close their minds to Jedi and Sith mind tricks. Many of the techniques and attacks of Teräs Käsi were named after various animals around the galaxy, suggesting that practitioners of the martial art took inspiration from the way animals moved.

    Three Rings of Defense - The basic lightsaber training featured in Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy on Yavin 4. The three rings deal with different stances and attack patterns depending on the distance of the opponent. The outer ring has heavy sweeping blows making it the strongest and most reaching ring. The middle ring was used to pick up quicker blows and stop them before they could intersect with the body making it great for deflecting blaster bolts. The inner ring of defense used parries as opposed to blocks and was primarily used against lunging attacks. The lightsaber was kept in close to the body.

    Trakata - Philosophically, Tràkata involved practical combat and deception, rather than single-minded determination or endless patience. Developed for taking advantage of a lightsabers ability to be repeatidly turned on and off, a unique quality for a melee weapon. Quickly shutting off then re-igniting the blade could confuse one's opponent/s, allowing for diversionary feints in combat.

The style has various ki based attacks, the most famous being the Kamehameha wave developed by Roshi and used constantly by Goku.

    Umi-Sen Ken - Translated variously as 1000 Seas Path, Sea of 1000 Fists', and Way of the Quiet/Silent Thief, was one of two secret and deadly styles of martial arts that Genma Saotome created in his younger days. While both styles used the analogy of the human body as a house, they were originally intended for robbery and burglary. The Umi-Sen Ken's techniques specifically simulated the silent entry of a burglar through the back door and emphasized "stealth", utilizing swift techniques and masking the user's presence.

    Water Dancing - The fencing styled martial art of Bravos in the Game of Thrones book and TV series. The style puts emphasis on speed, precision, and thrusts over the more hack and hammer style of the Westeros knights and sell-swords. The style got its name from the dueling location in front of the Sealord's Palace which is next to a reflecting pool. Observers note that duelists look like they are dancing on top of the water
