Martha is a mutant brain in a floating jar. Edit
Martha was a young runaway when she was captured by the U-Mens founder, Sublime. He removed her brain & stored it in a capsule. Using drugs Sublime used to her to control his enemies, namely Cyclops & Emma Frost. After breaking free of his control Martha used her powers to make him fall to his death.
Martha joined Xavier's special class where Quentin Quire made her a case to hold her brain, allowing her to hover. While in the school she became friends with Ernst who was able to relay her psychic messages to others. Martha joined Xorn's brotherhood but she predicted his plan to kill all the humans in Manhattan would fail. Xorn was eventually killed and Martha's prediction was proven correct.
Martha was on of the 27 Xavier Institute students to retain their powers after M-Day.
In the Quest for Magik story arc, Martha, along with the rest of the studdent body were taken to Limbo. Martha and the Stepford Cuckoos were put in special telepathy blocking helmets by Belasco. The students were saved by the X-Men and brought back home.
After the Institute was destroyed, Beast came back to the ruins to destroy important doccuments. Beast then found No-Girl and took her with him in a carrying case.
