"The Death Wind," The "Crab" invaders use weather control to attack key sites; The President sends the M.A.R.S. team to fend off an attack on the Panama Canal, but the invaders flood New Orleans with a hurricane, killing thousands, wrecking the city, and destroying its defenses.

"Part II: Guerilla Warfare," With New Orleans devastated, cut off, and occupied, M.A.R.S. Patrol gathers the remnants of other forces and starts guerrilla war from a lumber camp, operated by Joe's uncle, in the bayous; They strike back aided by Lisa Kane, who insists that in total war, women too must fight; Guerrillas blow up the enemy transport base and attack, paving the way for airborne to recapture the city.
