Origin

The Plodex had used up all the natural resources on their home planet and were searching for a new, quicker way to take over other planets. Ships were sent containing eggs, when the egg landed it sent out a signal and whatever life form responded had it's DNA absorbed and the Plodex infant took on it's form. The egg that was to become Marrina ended up in the ocean for many years until Tom Smallwood discovered it. Washed overboard, he thought he was drowning when he saw the light given off by the egg and grabbed it. The egg buoyed him to the surface and he took it home to his wife, Gladys. Noticing the figure inside she opened the egg and therefore imprinted it with her DNA making it a female. Having been exposed to the water for so long Marrina took on amphibious traits as well. Other than her odd appearance she had a normal childhood until she was contacted by Guardian at age 16.

Marrina did well in Beta Flight and was quickly promoted to Alpha Flight. While with the group Marrina felt she was being called home, her teammate Puck noticed her agitation and when he touched her she flew into a rage nearly killing him. Seeking out the Plodex ship she went wild and was captured by a man called Master Of The World who had activated it. After being rescued by her team, along with Invisible Woman and Namor, she left to see the world. Marrina went to Atlantis with Namor and the pair soon fell in love and wed. When Marrina became pregnant her Plodex DNA caused her to turn into a giant sea creature, Leviathan. Namor was forced to slay her with the Black Knight's sword. After her death she reverted to her normal form and was given a fitting burial. Shortly after 3 eggs were discovered, they hatched and swam off into the ocean.

After being told that Marrina "sleeps a false death under the waves", Master Of The World stole her boy to use for breeding experiments. When he was defeated the Plodex ship dissolved, leaving Marrina's body drifting in an unknown location.

Powers

Thanks to her Plodex DNA Marrina has enhanced speed, strength, stamina and endurance. She can also breathe underwater indefinitely and swims at a speed that rivals her husband Namor. Her skin can also secrete an oil that causes the pupils to dilate, effectively blinding a person.
