Have you always aspired for comic book immortality?  Well, here is your big break!  To celebrate this fall’s debut of the highly anticipated new Virgin Comics series Nowhere Man, from the creative team of Hugh Jackman, Marc Guggenheim and Paul Gulacy, Virgin Comics is giving 5 randomly selected winners a chance to be a real Nowhere Man (or woman) and get drawn into an issue!!

Will you be a government agent?  A bad-ass assassin?  You'll have to win to find out. Not only will you appear in an issue, but Hugh Jackman, Marc Guggenheim and Paul Gulacy will all personally autograph the copy of the issue that you appear in!

And if you're not one of the few lucky winners, don't worry… you could always be one of the ten runner-ups to receive a copy of Nowhere Man #1 autographed by Hugh Jackman!

Enter now at www.virgincomics.com/nowhereman or send an e-mail to nowhereman@virgincomics.com with DRAW ME as the subject.   The contest runs through September 15th, 2008.

Nowhere Man takes place 500 years in the future, when the Earth's population has been infected with a virus that allows an oppressive government to monitor their thoughts.  It's the Patriot Act gone haywire. But a group of rebels have engineered the ultimate weapon: a genetically altered child, born immune to the virus.  He's the only one on the planet who can bring some semblance of privacy and individuality back to the world.  He is the Nowhere Man.

A special $1.00 Nowhere Man # 0 16-page preview issue hits comic stores on October 22nd (Diamond Order Code: AUG084355), and features a stunning cover by Marko Djurdjevic.

I feel like I'm missing something.  Marvel keeps sending me these "Who are the Eternals" covers.  I never thought they were that big a deal.  I've said that the recent mini by Gaiman and Romita Jr. was good.  I get that they're getting a new series but I would've never thought there'd be so much of a push behind them.  Is an Eternals series something that people are clamoring for?  Or are they not so much so Marvel feels they need to push this?  I'm going to check it out but I'm not sure if it'll be near the top of my reading list for that week.  Although maybe I should move it up to see what all the hub-bub is about.

This post relates to: J. Michael Straczynski, Marko Djurdjevic, Thor, Odin

I have to say that I've been enjoying Thor.  I've mentioned before how it's always been hit and miss with me.  It's been interesting seeing Thor "search" for his fellow Asgardians.  Wonder if he will find Thor.  What's gonna happen to him.  We've already seen what happened to Loki.

Thor #7 and #8 have both sold out at Diamond and Marvel is going back to press on a Must-Have collecting both scorching-hot issues in Thor: Search For Odin Must-Have.

Writer J. Michael Straczynski is joined by special guest artist Marko Djurdjevic (Daredevil) for a two-part story collected in Thor: Search For Odin Must-Have which finds Thor searching for his father Odin. Hoping to restore Odin to his former life as Thor has already done for many Asgardians, the Thunder God may be in for the fight of his recently restored life as he finds his father locked in a battle that neither of their combined efforts can hope to win.

Thor’s return to the Marvel Universe continues to wow critics and fans alike as the Thunder God’s new ongoing series has been hotter than lightning.

Thor: Search For Odin Must-Have is the latest example of why Thor is one of the hottest characters at Marvel right now so don’t miss your chance to pick up this marvelous must-have.

This post relates to: Iron Man, Marko Djurdjevic, Bob Layton, Billy Tan, Joe Quesada, Salvador Larroca, Matt Fraction

Wow, that's quite a few covers.  I'm not a huge fan of the variant covers.  It's more the idea of paying more for a really cool cover.  It's bad enough how much comics cost these days.  I'm not going to shell out more for the same insides.  I do like the 50-50 covers.  At least that way, you have a choice which cover you want.  Iron Man's going to have three variants?  Wonder what the distribution ratio will be for those.  I suppose the retailers will be oredering more copies to get a hold of those variants.   Funny how Marvel is really pushing Iron Man all of a sudden.  You'd think he has a movie or something coming out...

Marvel is proud to unveil three new variants covers to this May’s hotly anticipated Invincible Iron Man #1! From legendary Iron Man artist Bob Layton (Iron Man: Legacy Of Doom), plus rising star artists Billy Tan (Uncanny X-Men) and Marko Djurdjevic (Thor), come three stunning new covers to the new series from red-hot writer Matt Fraction (Immortal Iron Fist, Punisher War Journal, upcoming Uncanny X-Men) and acclaimed artist Salvador Larroca (Amazing Spider-Man, Uncanny X-Men)! These covers join the powerful 50/50 covers from Larroca and Marvel Editor-In-Chief Joe Quesada!

A perfect jumping-on point for new readers and for old fans alike, this all-new Iron Man series pits the Armored Avenger against a man who just may be his greatest enemy! Featuring all your favorite Iron Man characters, from Pepper Potts to James Rhodes, Invincible Iron Man #1 begin an all-new, action-packed, status-quo shattering ongoing series that you can’t afford to miss!

Retailers, please note that Invincible Iron Man is also previewed in the upcoming Iron Man/Hulk Sampler, an unprecedented, free 32 page special that previews all the major upcoming Iron Man and Hulk releases. This sampler is perfect for distribution at movie theaters, Free Comic Book Day, and any other promotional efforts, providing a perfect introduction into the world of the stars of this summers two most anticipated blockbuster films!

This post relates to: Thor, Marko Djurdjevic, Odin

Issue 7?  I just picked up issue 6.  Haven't read it yet.  I have to say that I've been enjoying this series of Thor.  Thor has always been hit and miss with me.  I think I've always liked it when he's on Earth (or should I say Migard?).  The adventures set strictly in Asgard just seemed to bore me for some reason.  Can't really explain why.  I do like how Thor has to find all his fellow Asgardians.  It makes sense that these "gods" can't die.  As long as people remember them, they should be able to live.  In this issue we'll see the return of Odin.  I'm surprised to see Mark Djurdjevic doing the interiors here.  Nice.

Acclaimed cover artist Mark Djurdjevic joins the thunderous hit series Thor as special guest artist for a two-issue arc that promises to turn the God of Thunder’s world on its head! Writer JMS (The Twelve) has brought Asgard to Earth, transformed Loki into a woman and pitted Thor against Iron Man…so what could JSM have planned for Thor’s father, Odin? Has he been found? And more importantly…should he be found?

As a special bonus, Djurdjevic and regular series artist Olivier Coipel have teamed-up to create a special variant cover for this issue—and you need to see the results of this superstar jam to believe it! This stunning image is also available as the Thor By Coipel & Djurdjevic Poster!

Thor’s world has been rocked by the machinations of others, but will the return of his father set him on a path of no return? And what of Loki’s machinations with the deadly Dr. Doom? If you haven’t checked out one of 2007’s most critically-acclaimed new series, then don’t miss Thor #7, kicking off a series of events that promise to shatter the status quo!

This post relates to: Thunderbolts, Christos N. Gage, Ben Oliver, Marko Djurdjevic

Oh look, another Thunderbolts comic.  I still don't get why they can't keep these stories in the regular series.  I do have to say that it's weird seeing the art after being so used the artwork in their normal series.  Venom does look kinda big.  I guess the story there is so big that these other stories don't really fit.  I wonder how long the T-Bolts (in their current incarnation) will last.  Last issue didn't look too good for the team.

In the wake of the Civil War and the nationwide adoption of the Superhero Registration act, heroes and villains alike are now working for the government. Enter the Thunderbolts - a fearful super-villain team forced to be the good guys. However, Radioactive Man, a citizen of China, and the Swordsman, who hails from Germany, are not American citizens. In a mind-blowing one shot, Thunderbolts: International Incident, the team is tasked with following the sadistic scientist Arnim Zola after an attack in Atlanta. The mission, however, involves going into a foreign country; something not in the Thunderbolts' contract. Radioactive Man and Swordsman will be faced with strenuous decisions. What do you do when a mission goes against the best interests of your home country? To whom does your allegiance truly belong?

Wrapped in a stunning cover by Marko Djurdjevic, Thunderbolts: International Incident is penned by the amazing Christos Gage (mastermind behind Thunderbolts: Breaking Point and House of M: Avengers) and is combined with the sensational art of Ben Oliver (Ultimate X-Men).

Will Radioactive Man and Swordsman stand up for their team, their country, or will they go rogue? This fantastic one shot is perfect for readers new and old; this is the Thunderbolts special that can't be missed!

This post relates to: Ed Brubaker, Kevin Grevioux, Christos N. Gage, Marko Djurdjevic, Marc Silvestri, Captain America, Iron Man

I've said it before, I'll say it again.  Marvel has been putting some talent into their What If...? titles lately.  They've usually been throwaway stories that didn't really "matter" that much.  I loved the original series way back.  These stories have been giving us a nice glimpse into what could've happened.  I have to admit I am surprised at everyone that they've got working on this one.  I just hope the story is good.  Too many times the writers have had their What If stories end with major deaths and destruction trying to show us that what actually happened was for the best.  I don't want them trying to say that Cap surrendering and eventually getting "killed" was better than what could have happened.  We'll find out next month.

The most controversial, most talked about series of 2006 was Civil War, in which the super human community was forever changed—but what if it all turned out differently? That question’s at the heart of the star studded What If? Civil War, exploring two different possible endings to the comic book epic, by writers Ed Brubaker (Captain America, Daredevil), Kevin Grevioux (New Warriors) and Christos Gage (World War Hulk: X-Men). Teamed with artists Mark Djudjevic, Gustavo and Harvey Talibao, this What If is a can’t-miss for Civil War fans—and it’s wrapped up in two covers, one by Marc Silvestri and a wraparound by Djurdjevic! And if those two covers didn’t have your jaws on the floor, wait till you see the special Djurdjevic sketch variant, showcasing the acclaimed artist’s cover work like you’ve never seen before!

Framed by Eisner-winning author Brubaker and acclaimed artist Djurdjevic, two stories take you on unforgettable paths through the possibilities of Civil War. In the first story, by Grevioux and Gustavo, Captain America unites all the heroes against Registration while Henry Gyrich takes the Registration Act into his own hands—with terrifying results! The second story, by Gage and Talibao, explores the consequences of Iron Man losing the war and how it affects the entire Marvel Universe! Democracy is put to the test—and through its paces—in this timely political tale.

“What If? Civil War continues to explore the political issues the original series tackled,” explained Editor Justin F Gabrie. “Both of the stories within are meant to go in completely separate directions, hopefully in ways you wouldn’t expect.”

We’ve all seen what happened to the Marvel Universe in the wake of Captain America’s death—but could that tragedy have been avoided? Could there be a happy ending to the event that tore apart the Marvel Universe? Only one comic has the answers and it’s called What If? Civil War, the extra-sized issue that fulfills your Civil War withdrawal!

This post relates to: Daredevil, Ed Brubaker, Marko Djurdjevic, Michael Lark, Mr. Fear, Black Tarantula

Big surprise.  Actually I am.  I've been enjoying Brubaker's run.  How could you not?  But I don't really care for Milla.  Let her go to jail.  Lilly Lucca?  Whatever.  I do have to say that for an issue #100, I wasn't overly impressed, even though Brubaker wrote it.  There wasn't anything super special.  Also Marvel decided to make a over-sized issue by including two reprints from old issues of DD.  Yeah it was useful to figure out who the heck Mr. Fear was but I don't really care about him either.

Marvel is pleased to announce that the highly-anticipated Daredevil #100 has sold out at Diamond (though copies may be available at the retail level). Featuring the multiple Eisner-Award and Harvey-Award winning creative team of writer Ed Brubaker and artist Michael Lark, in addition to some of the greatest artists from Daredevil’s history, Daredevil #100 featured an intense look at the tortured psyche of Daredevil as he seeks to overcome Mr. Fear and the Enforcers. This landmark issue has thrilled fans and critics alike, leading to a quick sell out at Diamond!

“That's great to hear!” exclaimed Brubaker of the sell out. “I knew when I saw all the artists’ pages coming in that this would be something special. I just hope that if this is anyone's first issue they'll stick around to see what's coming next. Mr. Fear just ripped a huge piece out of Matt Murdock's life, and what happens next isn't going to be what anyone is expecting.”

IGN.Com’s Jesse Schedeen deemed the issue a “must read” and gushed, “Ed Brubaker has the potential to become the greatest writer in the 40 years of Daredevil comics.”

“Daredevil is a must read book month in and month out,” exclaimed Newsarama.Com’s Richard Renteria.

With numerous awards and critical buzz for Daredevil, Marvel urges retailers to check their orders on upcoming issues of this acclaimed series. Matt Murdock’s being pushed to his edge and if he’s not careful, Daredevil #101 may be the issue where it all might just come down crashing around him! And in Daredevil Annual #1, Daredevil is reunited with a face from the past—Black Tarantula—and it’s time to learn if a man can really change.

Please note that Marvel currently has no plans to go back to press on Daredevil #100.

This post relates to: Aunt May, Joe Quesada, Marko Djurdjevic, Mary Jane, J. Michael Straczynski, Spider-Man

So nothing really happened in the first issue.  I'm saying it now, I'm really going to be pissed if this doesn't go well.  I am sooo tired of Spidey getting shat on.  How is he supposed to be true to character with all his wise-cracks if he's just constantly getting dumped on.  It's not making him more "interesting" to me.  I'm tired of hearing and reading about how Spider-Man being married has affected the character.  Or people can't relate to him.  At $3.99 an issue now, who the heck do they think is buying this issue.  I read in Wizard how most of the "kids" reading Spider-Man have only known him as being married.  I think it's pretty lame if it's just a matter that the writers can't write a married super-hero.

One will fail him.

One will save him.

One will damn him.
